Spring In England, After the Worst Winter Ever Recorded!

By NEILMUIR1
March 8, 2011

After untold snow and ice, winter finally left and we had nearly two weeks of mild weather. Then the cold winds started and rain with it for what seems an age now. Unable to go out and do anything. I vowed that the first dry day we have, I would go out and get some pictures. That day was today and it was surprising to say the least. Snowdrops, still out with Magnolia, are just about to go into full flower. What a strange spring!

Thank you for the beautiful walk Neil. Love your photos and all the wonderful plants that are in bloom now in London. Here we have lots of snow at the moment - a cold but beautiful carpet covering our plants that are still sleeping.

Dear Magga, a pleasure! I am so g;ad you enjoyed them and the walk.
We seem to have your Icelandic snow when you did not have any, and now we do have a bit of sunshine! Although it is still cold on a night to say the least!
I hope Ran is OK?
Kindest Regards to all.

Dear Jamie, I do not know if they do chocolate buttons in the US. Well we cal them that anyway, they are small bits of chocolate shaped like a button. Although any chocolate would do, for what we us it for. A Gamekeeper taught me this as rodent go mad about chocolate and the myth about cheese is rubbish! Mice prefer cereal based things and cakes, plus cardboard paper for nesting!
This has now been proven by many Universities including mine!
So what you do is to get a small bit of chocolate, then melt it onto the spike on the mouse trap, as it cools the smell of the coca butter drives them mad and to get it of they will risk everything, until it snaps shit, then it is too late as they go to where they belong.
If you release live trapped mice, they just come back or die a painful death! They work on a Hierarchical system, remove a top one and take it away another will take its place very quickly.
Then it is an "Outsider" so usual gets wasted by something!
There breeding rate is phenomenal, so the more dead ones the better!
They are also disease carriers and will go through cables and cause untold damage!
Regards.
Neil.
Phoenix agrees!

Dear Linda, thank you for your most kind words! I am so glad you enjoyed it and hope it cheered you up? For I know up north from you they still have snow, so to see spring flowers have at least brought some hope that they might get a sprung, sometime!
I do hope so for their sake.
Regards.
Neil.
