Yes, every night they run out there and zoom around sniffing to see if any of the street cats have been loitering on the roof. There is one that sleeps on my red chair most nights, Cuba and Molly sniff that chair inch by inch. Because I don't want them to catch one of the cats, I turn on the lights and rattle the door before I open it, very disgusting to the dogs as it spoils everything. Occasionally we see one jump the wall and they get super excited. Of course, no self respecting street cat would stick around to greet them but they don't know that.

Oh WOW! That is absolutely fabulous! I love it! I bet you are out there every night, too, enjoying it! That was money well spent, IMHO. Enjoy, enjoy! Do share a photo when you get the rest of it set up with the new pots and any thing else you are going to be adding. The crew really did a wonderful job!

I haven't really gotten much done on the roof garden. The fiberglass guy who they usually use moved to Mexico City last year and I stopped bugging them to find a new one. However, apparently he didn't like it there and has returned to Mérida so now he is supposedly making the earth boxes again. We will see. I got enthused again and went looking for an outside table and umbrella. Found one I like at Home Depot and it was delivered last week. It took my partner and our worker awhile to put it together and of course, there was a part missing so I had to make another trip to HD. The table is all good now although I want to move it to a different space when the worker is here tomorrow.

The umbrella was one of those things I just couldn't resist. It has bluetooth and a little solar panel on the top to run both LED lights and a speaker. I can connect to it wirelessly (bluetooth) with my cell phone and play music!! I had to have it, I'm a sucker for that stuff.

I get the umbrella home and realize that I have no base for it so I had to go back and they are sold separately of course. Got one, got it all set up... went to open the umbrella that night and didn't realize that there was a breeze. It didn't seem too bad until I tried tilting the umbrella which then caught the wind like a sail and I was up there hanging on to it for dear life and trying to yell downstairs for help. That didn't work but eventually I got it down low enough that I could get it straightened out and put away. So... I'm not as excited as I was about this as I don't know if it will ever be still enough on the roof for me to open the darn thing. I guess I'll wait and try again. I did manage to play some music even with it closed but I couldn turn on the lights or get the full effect. Here's a picture from the store of how it is SUPPOSED to look.

LOL...I should not laugh...I do know the feeling. I love umbrellas and had quite a few at our previous property..We are on the Coast now and have pretty much constant breeze and very high winds. I brought only one umbrella with us, a new one still in box...and I'm pretty sure it will never get out of the box.
I could be wrong...

Hows the pond doing? I so envy you on that beautiful concrete pond. It has a waterfall at the end, correct? Would love to see a photo of it again. Thumbs up

Jonna, every time I see a photo of your roof garden I fall more in love with it! and I had no idea you could get an umbrella with a bluetooth speaker and solar LED lights... might be time for me to replace the umbrella for our deck table Big Grin

Yes, the pond has a small waterfall/filter and it is doing well. It goes through a lot more dark water problems than my other ponds, I'm not sure why. It was clear for about a month this winter but is clouding up again in the heat.

My dogs still love being on the roof at night but we lost our doberman Cuba a little over a month ago and I'm still broken up about it. It happened really fast, the vet said it was hereditary and we did everything we could to save her but eventually her organs just shut down. She was only 10 years old. 2 of our other dogs are 16 and I was preparing myself to lose them but I wasn't at all expecting to lose Cuba. I still think that our older male, Hombre, doesn't have long. He has pancreatic tumors and we are just keeping him pain free and as long as he seems happy all is well. I thought I was going to lose him last fall but the vet came up with a new medicine and he bounced back. His sister, Chica, is just kind of loopy these days. She bounces around a lot in the mornings and then mostly sleeps all day. Every once in awhile she looks at us or her brother like "oh, you. where have you been?" so we've been calling her Alice since she seems to live in Wonderland now. Meanwhile my partner's brother died last spring and we now have his 10 yo rat terrier. He's cute but his bark is like fingers on a chalkboard and he does it a lot. I'm working on toning that down. We also have our youngest rescue Molly, she seems to miss Cuba as they were play buddies and no one else will play with her. Sorry about the long dog saga, it's been difficult.

I'll take some more pics of the roof once I get the table moved.

We moved the table around today - that is the Royal We by the way Whistling I pointed and my worker and partner did the lifting. After a lot of different spots and them getting a bit hot and tired, I finally decided on this. I like it, it gives room for the smaller dogs to play, it looks more spread out and my sunning chair is in the right spot.

I am so sorry about your dog, Cuba. I've lost a few good dogs myself and I was sad for a long time. I have the best dog I've ever owned now and she is older. I will never find another dog as wonderful as her. I wished they lived longer as dog years are too short. And I am sorry to hear about the health problems of the older one. Group hug

I love that roof top patio! Every time I see it, I get a big smile on my face. What a stunning job the workers did on the renovation work. And I love the new seating arrangement .... I think you nailed it in the rearranging. The pond .... ahhhh! .... so lovely. I want one just like it! Lovey dubby
