Sometimes I think we err in trying to 'mold' a plant to how we want it to behave rather than just allowing it to follow its natural tendencies. I've moved some Lucifer down to the perimeter of my farm pond clearing and plan to just let it be. I think it will blend nicely with the pasture grass, which gets quite tall before we mow it.

Deb, I like your suggestion. I'll give it a try. I honestly had no idea the fronds flopped over as they do or I would not have planted them where I did. If I had a large enough area as flaflwgrl, I wouldn't have any qualms. They are beautiful and hummers love them. They bloom here in early July just as the hummers arrive.

Thanks to all for your suggestions.

Gail

Lucifer is not invasive for me. But then again maybe out winters keep it in check.

It may also depend on where you site it. I gave some to my son thinking it would be a no-care take-over plant for him, but it has just limped along for about 3 years with minimal bulking up. I think he put it in too much shade - which may be a tactic if one wants to keep it from spreading too aggressively.

Doubtless Jennifer.
I am a strong believer in the simple fact is that what matters in this life is how we treat others. I think that's what living is all about. Not what I've done in my life but how I've treated others. ~~ Sharon Brown
