Okay, dwarf comfrey received and planted!

First picture on the left is that section of the shade bed; my cousin has already placed hostas along that fence edge and clustered at the end.Close up picture on the right; I put the comfrey more at the yard edge so I can watch it, and plus, it's right across from where the compost is, handy for the older leaves. (I put a little spearmint sprig to the side and back because I'd dug it up and it seemed a good place for it. We'll see!)

My comfry is in also. I'll be sending you a clump of black scallop ajuga and some cuttings from the Hopi Crape Myrtle that will have seeds on the ends. I'll probably get them in the mail on Monday or Tuesday.

I decided to move two of my groundcover experiment patch plants. They weren't doing well where they were and I hope to be able to nurse them along in their new spot. So far, though, they're just sort of barely hanging in.

The thymes and the creeping veronica are doing splendidly, however.

I've also started plugging a little thyme into the long sunny bed, the one that's going to be expanded next year. Idea being to have some patches of thyme established when the action starts. Also, chamomile.

I have thyme and chamomile planted next to each other. I think they work well together! Creeping veronica is really nice, too--so pretty in the spring.

Thanks! I am adding to my plant lust daily. Green Grin!

Also, when I was mentioning the groundcovers in my experiment patch that are doing well, I forgot to say that the Lobelia chinensis is a real winner! It's not flowering now as much as it was, but it has definitely expanded and has no trouble being happy in that hot tough spot.

I've always loved the more common, annual lobelia, the blue ones that are so brilliant. I'm learning there are lots of other varieties, though. I just happened across this when I was shopping for groundcovers to try.

Annie, I've never heard of a mini Comfry bet it is a lovely plant.
Kyla, I have seen the steppables and purchased a few but did not have much luck with the varieties I tried .
I've been waiting to post on this thread such a nice topic. Just been too busy to post much with all the house renovations and getting ready for the plant swap we are hosting next Saturday Sept 13th. Tree Mail me if you need any info on the swap.
So I have quite a few ground covers here's a list of most of them.
Lamium Silver Beacon
Lamium Yellow Archangel
Creeping Phlox
Vinca Major Variegated
Vinca Minor
Several different varieties of low growing sedums
Pussytoes
Creeping thyme
Creeping jenny both green and chartreuse
I just love my ground covers and think they are wonderful plant "but" I have been spending a good bit of time lately weeding them or cutting them back.
The Lamium's have spread so successfully that I spent a good bit of time removing them from the beds they were sharing with other plants, same issue with the Vinca Major.
There is wiregrass, wild strawberry and several other invaders creeping in and I will tell you that it is a pretty tedious job grooming your ground covers.

thanks, @HollyAnnS! That's a good point about being careful about what we plant where! I haven't seen/ experienced Pussytoes in person. How do you like them?

Pussytoes where first introduced to me at my first plant swap. The host Hart had them and shared them with quite a few of us. I lost them the first year not sure if they didn't grow or were weeded out in my ignorance. Then I got them again at a later swap from someone that had gotten them from Hart and again I lost them. So at the spring swap I got some from Sally, hers also came from Hart. This time I planted them in a small flat pot and they are doing very well. I must decide if I am going to overwinter them in the pot or plant them. I quite often leave plants in their pots to over winter but bury the pots in a raised bed I am thinking that might be a good idea with this plant. They aren't in bloom right now but you will see them next week when you come. They are in a small terracotta pot in the flower bed next to the Gazebo under the Crepe Myrtle Tree.

Oh I haven't thought of pussytoes in years. We grew that out west. I'm surprised it likes the EAstern wet climate.

Holly, Steppables is a business and a concept and a cute name, but honestly, I think their prices are high and if I learn of something from their site (they do have great information which is free) I try to find it cheaper from some other grower.

And, as for the weeding, I figure I'd have to weed anyway and these will make the weeding less. Maybe I'm wrong! Reckon I'll find out. Green Grin!

At least they are filling some bare ugly spots with herbal goodness that doesn't need much pampering.

Unfortunately, my comfrey didn't make it because I had to leave to babysit and DH missed watering them for a week right after I put them in the ground a while ago.
