I haven't been able to sneak up to anything to get a picture this year. They fly away on me everytime, butterfly, birds, bees, dragon flies. They just won't stay in one place long enough to get a picture.

To start your day. Will be running errands this morning. Hey does any one know anything about the Dappled Willow. I had heard it preferred acidic soil which in that case it wouldn't work here but it is such an interesting variegated shrub...... I'm going to look at one this morning where I saw them on sale. Doubt those college kids won't have any ideas...........Not likea big garden center hires knowledgeable people.

They just there for the money, did you Google to see what the requirements were?
I just type in the name and it usually gives you lots of choices. Maybe you can Fertilize it to make soil more acid or add wood chips.

Awesome Doris.......

I don't want to have to amend the soil Charleen then I would have to remember to do it every year and that kind of memory I do not have and then it would just croak. So if I know that already there;s no sense spending good money on them to just die.

Yes I googled, but still not sure............ i looked it up in one of my many many plant encyclopedias andsince I don't have the complete latin name for it I couldn't find even one close to it. I know Salix and that is it. I'm hoping the full latin name is on the tag...........

Well went ahead and bought two (2) Dappled Willow. They are small only about a little over a foot high but I had to have them. Planted one out front in my oval bed that had a biiiiiiiiiiig bare spot and the other one at the corner of the new garden shed.

Hi--- Cherie, I've never heard of a Dappled Willow; doesn't it have the scientific name on the tag? It will probably do fine as long as it gets plenty of water & sun... my neighbor across from me had some kind of willow, maybe Golden?... I loved it because I, yes I, could see it from across the street; I watched it grow from a small little thing, and about 4 or 5 yrs later, they chopped it down!! I was so upset! It would blow with the breeze, and always looked so relaxing and serene... they did it because of the Roots, I think. I've heard that willows are bad about their roots getting into sewer pipes & other places they shouldn't... which is why my husband never wanted me to get one! So Cherie, just make sure your new ones aren't prone to spreading roots in the wrong places... or you'll have trouble later. Hopefully, that variety won't have bad habits--- they sure are pretty, Cherie. Oh, also, our soil around here is alkaline, and their tree grew fine in that type of soil! Rolling my eyes.

Doris & Charleen, love your butterfly pics! Charleen, like your basket--- I recognize one of those little plants; I have that one with the brown tips, kinda fuzzy leaves?--- the label says: Chocolate Soldier--- which is probably half the reason I bought it!...(I like chocolate, and my son will be a soldier soon.) This plant just sits with a few other small succulents in my North-facing kitchen windowsill, & does fine.
Cherie, are those Coneflowers pink or purple? On my comp. they look bright pink. I love those flowers... Thumbs up

They are called Purple Coneflowers but they really ARE more pink this year than in previous years. Echinacea purpurea is the name I bought for these and they are supposed to be purple............

Its weird I know.
