Cece re irises: please clear away old dead leaves. They are a great place for the iris borer moth to lay its eggs. glad that you have the plants however.

Yes I know and will do that as soon as it stops raining....... Its started raining just as I brought the camera in and was going out to cut back on the beds I uncovered and don't relish getting rained on. Will have to wait for a drier time I guess......

Have been reading all these posts trying to catch up... I'm SO glad Cece & Cinda & others are Finally seeing some Spring in their surroundings! It seemed like a looong Winter to me also, and I live in South Texas and had no snow! But we did have some freezing weather, and more winter rain than usual, so it seemed long to me. One thankful thing came about because of all our cold rainy days, and that is that now we are beginning to have Wildflowers pop up along the country highways; I saw some pics yesterday of Bluebonnets & other Texas wildflowers just north of here, so we may have to take a little drive this coming Spring Break week to have a look ourselves! Evidently, because of all the Extra winter rain, now we will have Extra wildflowers--- that's an even trade, right?! (although I hate winter rain... I don't mind Spring rain.) Anyway, Happy Spring everyone!!! =)

Dear Connie, and a Happy Spring to you as well.It is cold and wet here some days, although the sun has been out today, for a brief time.
It is the north winds that are the real cold bringers, but as they say " March comes in like a Lion, and goes out like a Lamb!"
Regards.

Dear Connie what is the Botanical name for "Bluebonnets?" I would like to look them up.
Thank You.
Regards.

Bluebonnets are so beautiful, I've tried to grow them here, but with little success.

The botanical name, I think, is Lupinus texensis.

Hope you all have a great rest of the weekend. I have my 5 year old grandson visiting from Chicago, and it has rained....so no work in the garden for us.

Be well, Neil....

After fighting for a single lupin to survive in the garden, I used to be very envious of the wild ones growing in Maine in June. Probably a reletive of the ones in Texas.

I keep trying, too, Lucy...but I'm still a bluebonnet failure.
Maybe someday!

Cece, I seesee that I am not the only one who leaves their garden stakes in place from year to year. Steve made me some holders because I have so many and I still manage to leave many in place for the next year.
Looks like some of you are soon going to be really blooming. Good I get to enjoy yours until mine start popping up.

Upon popping in to see my mother, these wonders had come through the Cyclamen in her Garden. What a joy to see, well at least I think so!
Except she does not know how they got there at all. For she did plant some at the bottom of the garden and the squirrels dug them up. But squirrels also have a habit of plantings things again to store them and forget them. It does not matter, they cheered me up a bit!
Regards.
Neil.
