We get someone's Flickers then. We only see them in the winter/spring.

My bird book says they're here year round but for 2 years we've only seen them in the cooler months.

I don't (didn't?) think I had every seen one. Actually I had to look them up. After searching Flicker's to see what they were, I may have gotten a couple (not great) pics of one. It was in the grass across the street from our house. I was in my kitchen so the photos are taken out the kitchen window. Would they be feeding on the ground? I couldn't get any better pics than these. What do you think, is this possibly a Flicker?

Flickers do feed on the ground as well as on trees. They eat bugs & ants on the ground. It could be a flicker but I'll let those who are used to seeing them all year answer what they think.

Looks like a Northern Flicker to me! Woodpeckers and Flickers will feed on the ground if they spot something of interest! Here are some photo's for comparison:
Wow! I am glad I didn't delete the pics. I wasn't sure what it was. They are pretty large birds really. I hope I see some more. I have never seen them before though the info says they are here year round. Thanks Everyone!

Love flickers! On our walk this morning I saw so many kinglets and one Black and White Warbler. Sure wish I could have had my camera! They were that close that I could tell what they were and kinglets are small birds!!

Seems our mature male hummers packed up and left Monday night. Only had 1 hummer yesterday. But this morning I have already seen 2 chasing each other around the feeders.
