Hurray! Hurray! Hurray! Hurray! Glen is WELL ON THE MEND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hurray! Hurray! Hurray! Hurray!

We are head over heels to hear from you Glen! Green Grin! Green Grin! Green Grin! Now that we know you're still among the living you can go back into hibernation for a while & fully recover. Just make sure to give us a holler once every 4 days or so. I know what you mean about change & learning new computer programs. It can be quite daunting. Grumbling Grumbling

Thanks Debra for the sleuthing to find Glen.

Green Grin! Good to see you back for the new year. nodding

Up to about 30 here, I hope the cold snap killed some aphids that I just saw on the smaller plants. My plants are actually looking pretty good, hoping for some 'pretties' this year. Last year was just a total wash out.

Glad to hear from you, Glen. You had all your daylily friends here all a-flutter. 'Aussie Dreamtime' is a beauty! I know how you feel when the garden gets out of hand in the summer. Unless I can hire someone with more energy than I have, I've been known to just let it go until the weather cools a bit. Keep the pathways clear and let the rest take care of itself. The critters will love it.

We have 40ish and very windy but at least the sun is out, so it will warm up a bit. Thankfully my back yard is very protected from the wind. I'm looking out at the cat, basking in a sunny spot to the south of the bamboo stand. Don't know if I will take the tent off the Earth boxes today. This cold is good for a few things, as Pam said it will knock down some of the insects that had been enjoying our Florida weather, and my daylilies had started putting up lush new growth way too early, so will slow that down as well.

Thanks everyone. You are all wonderful.

JOY CHARMAN MEMORIAL is flowering in my garden for the first time. This is a modern Australian cultivar. Alas the Charmans have stopped hybridising and are selling off their daylilies as they down-size into retirement.

I like that one. Seems well on the way to having an edge on the petals. Not so common on the UFs and Spiders.

Off topic. While you were taking a break from us, there was a discussion of the ATP Member Map. If you zoom in enough, The Blue Parrot Cafe appears to be just down, or would it be up?, the road from you. Ever eaten there? Smiling . I wanted to ask you since I saw it on the map!

Glen, it is like having a correspondent with whom you have faithfully exchanged letters once a week for some years. A friendship develops--electronic in this case, true, but real nevertheless. You are missed when not here. Smiling Smiling

Thank you.

Donald, the Blue Parrot Café is about 1 mile south of here. It is amazing the maps and what one can see from far away now. I am off to there for coffee in an hour at 10.30am (Saturday). It has changed hands so much in the last 10 years no one can remember what it is named after. It always has a parrot fish painted somewhere as its symbol. But I have a sneaky suspicion it is named after the one in " Casablanca." I will take a picture this morning.

I hope he's ok still. His flowers make winter a little nicer. I think I have a phone number from a customs form when I sent him some seeds to see whether they would get through. I'll have to go dig...

My guess is that Glen has other interests and may be exploring those. And he mentioned about the weeds growing in his garden. Perhaps he doesn't want to share photos until he can attend to those weeds first. The surgery has slowed him down for good reason, so that may have a lot to do with his absence here on the forum.

Hang on to that # James but I think for now, Glen is just busy trying to cope with recovery & the new computer as well as the new photo programs he has expressed frustration with --- and on top of that, there is the weeding.

I was looking at a magazine, and it had a recipe for a, radish, mango, avocado mixture you put on crackers. First thing I thought of was I need to show this to Glen, as he does love his radishes. I agree with Ann, maybe just other things going on, lets hope at least.
