Do you know if Michael's has things that will stand the outdoors all year round?

How long is their 50% off sale going to last?

Ginny and Becky: I zoomed in on that pic and it says 2/12 - 2/18. If I buy any, I will probably spray with a coat or two of an outdoor clear sealant type stuff. Any thoughts on that from anyone?

I agree Chantell - spray them before leaving them out.

Chantell - I tipped you some acorns because I want to THANK YOU for the heads up on the Tiny Treasures (TT) sale at Michael's. I went there today and OH MY!!!! What a great sale! The one thing that I have been wanting to purchase are some resin "mini houses". I make miniature gardens in containers that I display around my yard. I had used some cheap mini wooden bird houses that I painted, but because of the humidity here, they have all rotted.

Michael's had some very cute TT little resin houses. Even regular priced, they are reasonable. On sale, they were almost a steal! I thought they were adorable, so I purchased 4 different ones. If you look at the resin houses online at different sites, they are VERY expensive. I bought several other TT mini items also. I have planters and pots already made up that need to be redone with new succulent plants and new items. These are going to look so cute when I am finished remodeling my mini potted garden scenes. I bought enough to actually make a new potted scene as well.

I had gone to the local annual Gardenfest recently and picked up a dozen succulent plants for $1 each. They normally sell for $3-4 each in the stores. So I am set to go now to redo the planters and create a new one! Such fun!

The circular item (in the above photo) and these 2 larger white items in this photo are ceramic signs. I am going to paint them and add some wording. Wood always rots so quick in my yard, so perhaps these signs will last longer. Each one was $2.50 or less on clearance. I will replace the twine with wire.

So I came home an excited shopper/gardener!

Just ordered Michaels minis online. I decided to do a mini carnival with the roller coaster, ferris wheel, etc. All on sale!!!

I saw the carnival items and they are so cute! The Ferris Wheel actually turns, please show us a photo of your scene when you complete it. I bet it will be adorable.

Awwww Becky I saw that… That was so very sweet of you! After all that's what we're all here for is to enable each other to enjoy the gardening that we love, right?! I'm actually headed over there as soon as I get a couple chores done here in the house! You would've thought I would've already picked up some but haven't made my way back over there. I loved the beach type theme as well! So it'll be a tough call! Yours look absolutely adorable can't wait to see them when you have them set up!!

They cancelled my ferris wheel Now I'll have less for the carnival, but will keep my eyes open in case I see another one!

In Des Moines but I'm working 10 hour days and weekends right now so no time to go to Des Moines and shop (1.25 hr drive). My only enjoyment right now is all of you guys Wonder what I did last year since I wasn't on here yet - hmmmmmmm

Super cute pics! I picked up a few things yesterday at Michael's before the sale ended. I think I'm also going to do a little fairy garden in my deck planter that has two types of thyme growing in it.

Awesome!!! I also got the little bird bath and the 3 way sign with the owl sitting on top.

I've redone one of my container gardens with a new house and a small bridge. Not sure if I am going to modify it any further, but still have 3 more containers to redo. I'll post photos when I am done.

Cute baby plants started from leaves. And a couple tiny weeds that planted themselves. If they get too big I'll pull them.


Haworthia survived another winter.


I think the red rosettes are growing back from roots from last year. If so, they're Sedeveria. Those plants were eaten by something. Love the moss too.

So I have been playing around for several years now with a couple of different ideas. I have finally thought about putting all the different ideas together in one project. Years ago a friend gave me a very nice metal horse topiary frame I think about 2ft high. I have never done anything with it trying to decide where to place it and what to grow on it. Then a year or two ago I put in this raised blue glass bed and thought just the place for my horse. But what else will I grow in there with the topiary. I have also been saving up broken pots and I have been collecting miniature plants. I like the little fairy gardens but have always been more interested in the plants. More and more I have been looking at the cute little fairy garden items. So I am going to turn this little bed into a cute little fairy town. Can't wait to get started.
