This Summer has been a very rough for us. Lots of time consuming issues. We did practically no garden work other than grass mowing. The gardens were left to go to seed and practically no new plants not just buying but refusing offers of free plants. Yesterday Ric and I started cleaning the GH and the plants within. Lots of them need divided or up potted. Sure did feel good working with plants again. Hoping next Spring/Summer will be better.

Catching up with this thread as I have just obtained a Wardian Case and want to add mini plants. I checked out the link and there were 300 plants listed. Hurray!

My question is please, is there any way to make the list in alphabetical order? It starts out alphabetically by botanical name, then switches to alphabetically by common names. Shrug! Blinking Thank You!

Lots of very pretty plants and this is a good time to do research as it's too cold to work outside. Hilarious!

TY for asking about this. I've asked too.

300 plants suitable for mini gardening (though not all locations/conditions):

Maybe it's just that the plants at the beginning of the list don't have common names listed in our database? Oh, well. At least there are 300 to choose from. Hurray!

Edited to add:
So far I have decided I want a pebble pathway running through the plants and some mosses and lichens. The prostrate Peperomia looks a treat!

Greene, remember to always look at the mature plant height. I find many nurseries sell "plants for terrariums" which are only very small plants that will grow pretty large after a time.

Okay, I spent some time clicking on things to narrow my search and kept getting the answer "no results". I had to be less specific. One by one I eliminated the checkmarks, still getting 'no results'. Finally, I left only the terrarium and suitable for mini gardens checked; that gave me 15 plants to choose from. Not too bad. Thumbs up

TY for the kind comments, but the thanks are due to @Dave. He agreed to create that classification for searching, for the mini gardeners. :+)

After being frozen completely solid for about 48 hours, followed by weeks of below-freezing temps every night, and being kept dry during that period, some of these plants are NOT dead!

Graptosedum, Sedeveria, Sedum kimnachii, Lithops, and Graptopetalum paraguayense (ghost plant.) Haworthia is the dead-looking one, and most of the other dead plants have already been removed.

Most of my perennial dwarf plants are up. I will need to get some pics of them. My son Josh came over a few days ago and finished filling in my raised bed. This area has been used as a nursery area up to now. As of right now I am not entirely sure what my next step I have 3 pots of mixed dwarf perennials and a ton of unplanted dwarf hosta. I might just set the pots in the bed for now as a group, plant some of the hosta. Not sure if I should give it a light cover of mulch since it is all fresh compost fill.
