I have been given the spreadsheet of all the awards won by all the cultivars, along with the year that the award was given. This morning I wrote a script to parse it and put the information in the database, and this is now finished. There were a total of 93 awards given to cultivars for which we do not have an entry in our database, so my script wasn't able to do anything with them. I figure a lot of them have typos that prevented the match. They'll need to be manually inspected and databox proposals made.

I will help straighten these out if someone gives me some direction on what to do. I don't want to blindly run off & start changing things as I may be in fact screwing things up.
I assume Beastman won JC in 2012 is supposed to be Beast Man but can't take that for granted so if Sue or Char or Zuzu someone can tell me what I should be doing to check these out then I will work on them as time permits.

Selma Long Legs is in the database as Selma Longlegs. I've had this problem before searching for cultivars. Squaredancer or Square Dancer? Misspell Curtsy as Curtsey and no match. Sometimes on the LA Auction there is a listing where the spelling, though close, doesn't match. Then it doesn't show up in a database match. I guess, in these these cases, AHS is the final word on what is correct? Or do their entries contain discrepancies as well?

Nope, sorry, lots of errors there. I contact them all the time and they check the records from the hybridizers. Sometimes it's an entry error on whoever is adding the info, sometimes it's the hybridizer that made the error on the original paperwork. They take a long time to correct things, we can do it right away over here.

Surely Aristorcracy is mispelled? Too many 'r's there. Aristocracy would be the accepted spelling. But if it's registered mispelled, then that would be officially the name, I would think. Then it would be whoever registered it that should have the responsibility for correcting it. But I think those like 'Beast Man' - two words and 'Beastman' as one word are likely to be the more common problems. At least they have been for my searches.

Most likely entered wrong. I will contact the AHS registrar, they can correct it since the hybridizer is no longer alive.
