Yes!

(Thanks for asking, Debra--I am on the mend)

New for me this spring--Penelope--currently sprawling across the ground. Noticed more blooms today; where's the picture? Well, I didn't take one because I'm frantically trying to get all my fall planting done. I stopped to smell her though Lovey dubby

Thanks, I think I will add it. I had looked at the pics and saw it in person at the local nursery. Shrub roses are not as bad about black spot correct?

Penelope is looks nice.

dirt, glad to hear it. Smiling

Teresa, hoping Paul will chime in if he has Julia Child. Mine sometimes throws off a light-apricot colored bloom. Makes for interesting variations.

I mentioned this before but my Son grows Julia Child and it is a very nice rose. I would plant one but I can walk across the street and see his. Here are this morning roses. I realize that some have been posted before but these are new pictures.

Didn't take pictures this morning because all I have are blooms on sticks. I have never had blackspot like now. And there's absolutely no sense in spraying for blackspot.. not this close to a freeze. I took a couple of blooms into the office .. I didn't want them to get froze out as they were so beautiful. Everyone's trying to put out new blooms, but it's a matter of days before everyone gets froze out. Bleh.

Dirt ...

I love 'Penelope', but can't grow it in this garden. Most hybrid musk roses are best treated as small climbers.

'Penelope' can grow up to 8'. If you give it some support and some training, it won't sprawl as much.

You've got a great rose.

Paul, as usual, your photos are stunning.

Smiles,
Lyn

Paul - absolutely beautiful. I've tried to grow Moonstone like 3 times and that's just one that won't survive a single season, let alone come back from winter! I dunno why.. I planted Moonstone right next to Princess de Monaco (which is supposedly more tender) and PdM comes back year after year & Moonstone just drops dead. I've tried both own root & grafted.. nada. Bleh.

DDorphins - I understand about the hard freeze.. tonight's supposed to be in the upper 20s. Right now it's still 35 (been 35 degs for the past 6 hours) but the RealFeel is 26. Getting a bit chilly out there, and since the cloud cover is finally leaving, it's gonna get cold tonight.

I'll be posting some pictures on the October thread, but the freeze we had last night was the deathknoll for my roses. I'll call them Frozen Beauty..

Here's an example of Granada

@Skiekitty @Paul2032

Hey, Toni or Paul, have you ever seen anything like this? Started as a tightly compacted globe of new growth leaves when the rest of the shrub was looking kind of scraggly. Is opening out to an upright chorus of buds. Weird stuff, but cool.
