Here's to the last roses of 2014. Suppose to drop down to 35 degrees during the night.

Thank you Debra and Paul. I still have several rose bushes with buds on them. Unfortunately, we had another nor'easter with rain and winds gusting to 45- 53 mph over the past 3 days. Sunny today with another storm predicted for Thursday. Oh well, here we go again. Margie

If you double click the photos, they will enlarge and their names are on the photos. The top photo you select is a climber named Stormy Weather. The second photo is a HT named Charles de Gaulle. I think I previously submitted more photos of both roses to the rose plant data base. Check it out - Margie

The colors on Stormy Weather are delightful! I couldn't see a name on the lovely white rose.

My Stormy Weather looked NOTHING like that.. and my CdG bloomed only once this year.. but it's a new rose, so I'm used to that.

Porkpal, I believe the white one is an Iceberg climber but I am not 100% sure. I bought it about 18 years ago I think from Jackson Perkins. Hmmm, maybe the tag is buried at the base under all that dirt - I will try and look in the Spring. In the meantime, is there anyone here that could ID this white climber? Thanks in advance. Margie
Toni, both Stormy Weather and Charles de Gaulle are grafted - bought from Palatine. I know Charles de Gaulle bloomed often. I am looking at the dates on some of my photos of this rose CdG. 6/23, 7/11, 7/12, 8/11 - 8/18, 8/27 - 8/31 and 10/30.
I know with Stormy Weather it starts out looking a reddish purple and as it matures it becomes a darker bluish purple color.

I took a few minutes of photos of roses that look pretty good after all of the rain we've had. It seems so strange to see rose blooms with fall colors.

Pink Poodle ... I've never seen it in this bloom form:

Toni ....

I am experimenting with bringing a few bands that I've grown roots for and moved up to larger containers by over wintering them in my garden shed this winter. If it works, you probably can order a band from Berling next spring and I'll grow it up for you and over winter it for you and ship it out the following spring ... you pay the shipping. I know it's a long wait, but if you love it that much, I'll help you get another one for your garden. The plant you will add to your garden will have roots and have a better chance of surviving and you can plant it right away.

It has a lot of cold hardy roses in its seed parent. Unfortunately, it has Angel Face as a pollen parent, which can dilute the good stuff.

I'll let you know if my experiment works.

Smiles,
Lyn

The tomatoes have frozen, there is hard frost on lawn and wind shields each morning but I still have a few nice roses........
