Blue is my favorite, but I only have a few.

Two favorites:

Sea Power (of course) and
Forever Blue, a SDB that reblooms like crazy here in 5a.

What are some of the bluest iris you know?

'Sea Power' is on my list to get someday. Most of my blues are Noids..

'Judy Mogil' was pretty stunning this year.

'Absolute Treasure' took my breath away when it bloomed.

Absolute Treasure is one of my favorites and this year I added Ice Capades, another light blue. I have tried for several years to get some really blue irises but a lot of them that are described as blue are really a shade of lavender/blue. I also added Fantastic Blue and Blue Satin Ruffles and I hope to see them bloom this spring. I saw a photo of Ty Blue and thought it was blue and white. I planted it last year and although it is a lovely big bloom, very light with very dark beards and horns it is not a true blue.

Absolute Treasure seemed to be pretty close to sky blue, but I agree.. most of the darker shades are some sort of purple..

Chime in here folks. What is your truest blue iris. Mary Ann I know you have one I have coveted but I don't remember the name. I think you said it was a real blue.

Lost my message twice! Urrg! Angry I'll try again.

I bought 2 new blues this year and I can't wait to see them bloom:

Bluebird Of Happiness and Waterline

Other Blues that I have not seen listed include:

Blue Fin (not a good picture...but all I've got)
Thumb of 2014-09-22/Moiris/56f9ae

Blutique
Thumb of 2014-09-22/Moiris/2c434d

Bye Bye Blues (also not the best picture)

Revision
Thumb of 2014-09-22/Moiris/6879d5

Thar She Blue
Thumb of 2014-09-22/Moiris/6b8393

Breakers and Thar She Blue are similar in color to Sea Power.
Blutique and Bye Bye Blues have a little more purple in them (IMHO)
Blue Fin is similar to Alien Mist (except mine has spoons/long horns on them...which I have not seen in other pictures of Blue Fin)
The blue edge on Revision is probably the closest to true blue.

Whew...I think I got it all in! Sticking tongue out

I think here at home in a normal bloom year I would have to agree with Mary Ann and Tom (Merchant Marine, Sea Power, Open Sea) are all wonderful Blues and the last 2 of those always close out the season for me.
