Jumped right in to another thread without introducing myself here first. So, here goes: Been gardening since I was 16. I currently live in Hermann, Mo. Been here a little over 4 years. Before that lived in Columbus, Ohio for over a decade, and before that St. Louis (born and raised). Always have to grow plants wherever I can find a spot. I like to grow edibles, but have often had pretty shady yards, so I've done a little edible landscaping to sneak in edibles where I had some sun. Got into native shade plants while in Columbus, but had a small city yard, and was just beginning to scratch the surface on them. Had eliminated all grass in our urban yard -- the backyard was a "woodland". Then, when we went to put the house on the market, it was early spring, and we sodded over a lot of it to make it more desirable to the mass market
My husband and I are retired software developers. We have one dog. Lost 2 cats this year, and elderly one in January, and then last cat a month ago. He was only 16, and we thought we'd have him a lot longer, but he died suddenly. Miss him. But, no we're not going to get another cat. Having had as many as 3 dogs and 3 cats at once, it's nice to have just one pet for a while. SOOO much less hair in the house.
Looking forward to getting my veggie garden this cold spring. Finishing up some fencing around it, for now. Trying to create a woodland walking path in my yard.
I guess that's about it. I'm enjoying all the gardening news and pictures on this site. I also chose it as it's not political or snipy. We may not all share the same views, but we can come together over gardening
I'm likely to stop in around 9:30ish when I have some coffee, or late at night when DH is sleeping.
Coffee break over...TTFN
