The only time we have had a huge pile of corn on the ground is when the bin on the other side of town broke, lol! Yes, tiny Nichols with 375 people supports two grain bins and a small feed supply store.

I feel like I'm in a city when compared to your population Sally. Our village sports 1200 pop.

Population here in my town is about 300 more or less.

Town to east is about 5000 and to west I don't know for sure but probably closer to 8000 at least.

Springfield, is only 15 miles away, I think it's at 117000.

Sally - he'd asked for help, but so far he's doing fine on his own. Red would help, but he's never really come by to offer - just told Bob that when he's ready for him, to come see him. We won't get our funds from the City until next Thurs, so in the meantime Bob's working on his own. It got really hot today, but we were in Three Hills, doing some transactions and getting my car oil change, etc.
Our hamlet is only 180 people, and about 79 homes, so really tiny - no theatre, bowling lane, or police station. We have a fire hall, "convenience" store, and a library. We also have a senior's center, a post office and a Treasury Branch (like a bank of sorts). We have a museum, and it's funny, but I haven't been there yet. We've heard - "take $2 and your camera, you'll love it"

Laughing! I walk around the outside of town every morning. Not sure if it's two miles or not. I do it in about a half hour to 40 minutes. Sometimes I loop around to get more of a walk in. We also have a newly re-opened restaurant, a bar, a re-opened garage, fire station manned by volunteers, city hall, post office and a beauty shop. Most of the businesses were run by women but since a couple businesses changed hands more men are involved. In the country a guy sells guns. UPS and Fed X go past here at least once a day doing deliveries to him, lol!

I'm glad he's able to work alone. It's hard work!
You have got to take your camera and go to the museum. I'm dying to know what they have!

A gas station, café, bbq joint and industrial businesses here. We have a city hall and police department which share a small building. I can say the BBQ is world renowned and have had people from all over the world eat there. I remember the owner mentioning people from Japan once.

No city hall here, although we have one fellow who is the hamlet's self appointed police and also newsman (no, not official just that he watches out for everyone!)

Actually, he's added a further 10 ft wall to the long side and he will just put one more 4ft section, then the 3rd wall of 10ft, and he's done the walls - then it's time for the roof.... . The door will go as our front door, and we'll have the garden door at the back. The 2 side lights will go into the den, on either side of a horizontal regular window.

Population of my city is around 70000. And of course we have everything here, including the bad things. Hoping in the next few years to get some land and build a house out in the country somewhere.

EXACTLY! Living in a small town you know your neighbors. Riff-raff sticks out like a sore thumb. Living in a small town is where my saying came from. I wrote that long ago.

in a small town "everyone knows your name"....... so, it's not "Cheers" where everyone's drunk all the time, but it's sure friendly!!

So true Sally. I have lived in small towns. Towns with no stop lights. One gas station. And lived in bigger cities. Never in a major city though. Work takes me to the major cities now and then though and I hate it. Oh well.

The electricity was out for an hour or so today, when the elec co. was called, they said 741 houses, the whole town was without, I think that includes an outlying 'sub division'.
