Great pictures. We didn't get anything, and now that it's so late it's likely that we're not going to see them. Really strange, it was supposed to hit us.

ETA: It came at around midnight. It's really a beautiful sight.

They were more magical through my phones lens then my own eyes. But I think I caught some lovelies! It looked like flat beams of 5% lighter sky in areas last night. So when I took my photos it allowed more light in over 3 seconds. I'm glad I went w the hubs.

Haven't gotten out of bed yet but contemplating my day. I think today will be planters maybe. I wasn't too horrible last night with moving. Of course haven't been upright yet so that may be a different story. Hah.

Mornin all!

The day has begun. Both kids are heading out for activities and the hubs and I may go for a walk at the park and maybe this will be a good start for the both of us. We need to work on the albatross of weight and maybe this will be a good fit and a good path.

Once home then I'll be dragging out the goods to get the planters planted. At least that's my hope. I have quite a few to work on and hope they all do well. With time they will be beautiful.

I've got the garden done less the cukes. Need to get my tripod up and then plant at the legs. I can't remember if I need to restring so they can climb. I will have to see. I also need to throw some extra marigolds in the corners of the boxes. And then if I have extra plants after getting everything in the ground, I'll tuck some annuals in the corners too. Got to keep the bees happy!

Looks to be beautiful on out! Yay for that! Enjoy your Saturday!

I need to get my garden tilled but we've had so much rain these last few weeks that it would be impossible to till anytime soon.

I was going to stay up for the lights but when I saw that it would be midnight I said no way.

I looked at the north sky several times before and after midnight but didn't really see anything with my naked eye. Darn. I would love to really see a nice display of them before I go under.

A few new Iris blooms.

My brother in OK was able to see the lights around 930 or so and sent me photos of a lot of red. If there aren't clouds tonight we may head out again and see what we see.

Just hauled the planters out and got the hose replaced on the reel to the spigot. Seems the last hose was shot and I indeed had bought a new one last year but kid2 took for some project.

Kid2 needs a padlock on each hand when he goes to the garage. SO MUCH DRAGGED OUT for his experiments. It'd be different if we could actually park in the garage and I had things I could lock up but my garage is terrible and will never blow over (though secretly I hope it does!). We make do, just as we do with a lot of other things.

On the drive home last night we saw 8 deer trying to crash our drive home. Dumb things! I'm just like don't move toward me or double back my way. Not good by any means!

The hubs and I went for a walk. I made a 3/4 mile before my body gave fits so I stopped having slowly learned to be kind and do what k can and then stop. It's taken a while to get that through my head. It may not mean I'll win any races but even some movement is better than no movement. If we can do this a few times a week and build up on it - maybe it will benefit us both.

I'm off to figure out what plants move with me to the planter table.

Got nothing done outside. Was running errands for awhile and by time I got home it was mid afternoon and I was just like so much for getting crap done. Will spend the day outside. I refuse to leave the property. I have so many weeds it's not even funny. My mom hates seeing the weeds cover the irises and is like can u take a weedeater to them. NO!!!!!!! Well then take scissors and cut the grass back!!! D'Oh! D'Oh! D'Oh! N.O.

My goal is the long bed to be freed up quite a bit so I can at least get one rose planted in there and the whole section looking good. Then continue to thin out irises so I can make room for new ones. I need to get a trellis deal out of my shed (actually a small windmill stand but the windmill part was made cheaply and fell apart. Wish I could have someone make me a new one) and put it in my hosta bed. Gonna put a clematis on it.

Happy mamas day! 💐

Have an enjoyable day with family!

I was planting the planters yesterday. Did not get finished as the body said no. I got most of the front porch ones done. I might do one more for that space and I have the deck and garage ones to finish. It's to storm this afternoon at some point so I'm hopeful I'll get this done prior to.

Then it's planning what's next. I think I'll do the front bed as it's smaller and I'll be loading with the annuals and seeds. Of course not too much is blooking right now - just allium. The tulips and hyacinths are spent and the iris aren't anywhere close to ready for a bloom. But the leaves look good. Those have all been fertilized so I'm hoping!

If I can get the front bed done tomorrow then I need to decide what direction next, I think I better weed the dahlia bed iris so they can grow too. Or maybe I should do that first. I'll see how the edge whipping goes today. And once that's done then maybe I will have a better clue of what I can do when.

By is it that when you want to go play in the dirt once you finally can you feel stymied by your schedule or your achy body?!

Some days it'd be nice if it was easier than what it seems.

And I'd like to find something that would take my hurt away. Haven't clued into what they may be. I guess I could try an elimination diet and then see where my body freaks out as I add stuff back in. Wouldn't it be nice if they could hand you a list of what you can and can't eat without having your body possibly attack itself. Much like preventative healthcare stuff. Except they run a panel on common food families and say yep nightshades are your issue; or dairy or legumes etc. I guess I can inquire about testing on that but it seems it would be beneficial in general. Also like having to do PT every couple of years. I wonder if that would make a world of difference in all the aches people have. M

See this is crap I think of when I have quiet in the garden.

Happy Mother's Day all! Hurray!

It's warm out there. I was going to go plant but I think I'll stress the plants out more than necessary.

Besides since it's my day I can sit here and be a bumpkin if I'd like.

I did water the porch babies - some of them looked stressed out. The rest looked ok. The other ones I haven't planted I watered last night and they appear just fine. Tomorrow is another day.

The second batch of new lilies I planted evidently were not happy as the tops look fizzled out. Do they or can they send up new shoots if the initial one fails?

I did do an iris check, my usual early ones have bud heads forming! These are usually this one:

I have 3 others looking like they may take off too. But if they are the ones I'm thinking of, I know who they are already. Yay!

I have one very similar to that one here as well. It's been blooming for about a week now.

Been a good day outside for me today. Some weeding, lots of planting and basically lots of progress in little spurts.

None of mine are open yet. Just working on some buds. Not too many budded out yet, but I'm looking forward to them and it'd be great if I was inundated and every plant I have bloomed. I don't think that will happen. I have some new ones I bought last summer. They are still kind of small as are the iris box where the darn pest has been digging around. And the ones by the dahlia bed need the grass pulled back that decided to encroach.

I think tomorrow I'll run to town and get things for 4H, and then get home and finish planting planters. Then maybe I'll sit on my cart and pull the grasses and make sure the feet get the sun. And see what they do. In that area are some of the beauties I got from Jeanne. And then there are those ones I ordered that took forever to bloom and a bunch of them aren't what I ordered. Thumbs down anywho, some have grown on me and some are just ugly but maybe next to the right bloom they'll look beautiful.

I also should plant the trailing amaranth tomorrow. I don't know if it will work, but it's what I'm trying. In fact I have about 10 new things I'm planting in the annuals. Going to try them out and see what they do.

Also am contemplating a spigot put in the southside of the house of which there isn't one. Don't of you know the approx cost? What I was seeing was up to $600. The main waterline coming into the house is right on that side and the PEX runs fairly close within 2 feet without looking of the exterior wall. So I think it would just be running an elbow, add a short pex line and shutoff and dropping a bib in but I could be wrong. In my non-plumber mind that's what it is.

We are going to try to see the auroras tonight again. Kid1 didn't join us before and I'd like to try some different camera settings. Currently we have a storm going through the area. Not here but around.

The hubs is grilling me a good burger for dinner. Yay!

I didn't get much in the way of blooms this year but some were new to me which made me happy. Peonies aren't doing much this year in their row which surprises me but I guess they needed a year off.

1 inch of rain possible tomorrow and rain everyday this week except the weekend. Then start again.

Not going to complain on any rain that find us. Last year was horrible in that dept. tonight's rain bypassed us though, there was a light sprinkle.

My peonies are thinking about growing yet, not blooming which I guess is ok right? I had found a bartzella at HD last year and it has sent up a lot of leaves. I'm excited to see if it's indeed yellow. I think that would be beautiful. My others are all dark wines, pinks or whites.

It will be a slow week in the beds and gardens. I'll have to pace myself well.

I also bought Bartzella at HD last year but it didn't survive. Also got Cora Louise which did survive. It's in a bad spot but will be moved once I have the long bed cleaned up and know where my bare spots are. Worked on that bed off and on today so made some progress. Had to quit once my back cried Uncle. Have to work tomorrow so really don't need to overdo it.
