Lillies in.

Then I had the harebrained idea to weed the full front bed. I pulled out 9- 5 gal full pails of weeds. The bed is 3x 10 and 6x16 or so. That's a lot of weeds!

And it was full of this one all wrapped around the iris which in turn was holding moisture in and I had some rotten rhizomes.

What is it:

Thumb of 2024-05-01/ScarletTricycle/58f453

Thumb of 2024-05-01/ScarletTricycle/f5232e

It's a creeper and very fine vining under those leaves and it's all over the place! Thick!

And now I can't move so well. I think I'll go drown and then do some PT stretches. I'll deal w the heap move this Sunday maybe. I overdid it today. My brain was like let's go and my muscles say hell no we won't go!

At least it's done. I'm abstaining from throwing preen. I want to but if I'm putting seeds in that's not wise.

If I can move after cleaning up, then I'll go throw pepper flakes. I'm over animals and weeds! I'd just like things to stay cleaned up…wait I see a repeating theme in my life!

Happy afternoon all! I'm off to see if I can do anything movement wise. Hurray!

I saw a clip some time ago of students in the PRC (China) who were protesting against the government. Immediately, the communist government sent in the military to shut them down. These protesting students in America like to talk about how horrible America is, but they have no idea how much freedom they have in this country compared to other countries. Oh well, it's just a sign of the times, I guess.

Will be praying for the situation with your mom. Group hug

The name of that plant of which you posted a picture is right on the tip of my tongue, Scarlet…I wish I could remember what it's called. I'll check the database for you.

I can't recall it not what I call creeping Charlie but maybe it's creeping Jenny. Funny / both names of people that drive me nuts.

Anywho, sorry I'm lazy to go look myself. It's really fine in leaf and bloom.

Thanks for the acorn!

Down with a sickness today. That's why I'm online during school hours. Little sister came home a couple of days ago with a cold or something, so knew I was going to get it eventually. You know how it is: it starts off with one of the younger ones, and then the whole house gets bombed.

Saw that a couple of the Russets in the ground are up. Still not sure about how they're going to do in that new spot; it contains a pretty heavy amount of clay in it. The ground itself was cracking in a crater formation as the potatoes were coming up. We'll see how it goes. I'm definitely going to have to do some work on it, though, if I'm going to plant tomatoes in it.

Ah well, I'm only kidding myself if I say I can't do school. I can at least do some math and Latin on my iPad, so guess I'll do that.

Catch ya later.

Thanks!

I'll have to read up on that bugger. It's heavily in the one bed not too bad in the rest. Unsure why it's super happy there.

The right to protest is a first amendment right, one of the reasons we are different then China. Think some of us remember Kent State. Not condoning any violence

I seem to recall UW had protest issues in the 60s as well around the same time as Kent State and my dad talking about curfew in Milwaukee in the late 60s - exactly why was it with the Marches and Groppi? That part I forget, but I do recall a run from one side of town to the other just as curfew began. It's great if you want to protest, not so much when it goes to extremes and you can't articulate what it is you are protesting. But that's my take.

The PT was no help. At least for those series of muscles so I'm not sure where my problem lies. It can't all be arthritis can it? No, I've never tested positive for rheumatic arthritis but being treating somewhat similar. Who knows. I often wonder about fibromyalgia. But no tests for that bad boy that I'm aware. It stinks when the body says no, but the mind says totally achievable.

Tomorrow it's to pour again so I'm unsure what I'll try to get done. I need to take kid2 to a quick afternoon function and then head home and get him fed before church tonight. Kid1 has ball practice and once the running is done I should be able to take cuttings and water plants maybe. If I can get down to the ground. Will see.

Oh and the red pepper flakes! I have to do that yet. If I were wise I'd smooth the bed out AGAIN and see what gets disturbed. Of course I should probably wait until the rain is out of the way. Sounds like the next few days will have closures and drops.

I'm happy to get going! Ready for color and the pollinators and all the good stuff to come forward.

Now if only the trees would finish leafing!

Johannian: chickweed means the soil is extra happy and fertile. Hah! So I guess I have built up my so nice that weeds want to take over. Heck no. They can go populate the city heap. Whistling

AM: kid2s afternoon project is completed and went well.

Next question is my head is why did Mayo update their typeface? Trendy? Got tired of Palatino? Frankly it looked more classic than the new one. That said, don't ask why I'm thinking about that.

Plants on porch all watered. Yay! Still need to take cuttings but might do that once kid2 goes to ccd. They should root quickly I'd think. Maybe not grow super quick, but who knows.

And the hose leaks. Unsure I need a new washer or it tightened better than I could do. Which evidently was not tight enough. Go figure.

I should also head to the garage for my landscape fabric and plan to get those done too.

And I should head to the basement and see if I can find my black spray paint so I can refresh the troughs.

Alrighty the evening is suddenly busy!

I got outside for a few hours late afternoon. I weeded 4 raised Iris beds that I had done earlier. I put grass clippings from last year around the Iris in one of the beds. Then I pulled and dug out the weeds out of several other raised beds. I am getting most of them ready for veggies but one will be for Iris. This is in the Vegetable Raised Bed Area. I was glad to get this much done before the rain tonight and tomorrow.

My 3rd different Iris bloomed today. This one is SDB Double Byte.

Here are some pictures looking out the doors of my She He Shed.

For a very brief time the sun was out and the sky red and purple. It's all gray now, we're suppose to have rain all day.

I have to chuckle how dry the front bed turned once the weed was all done. Glad to have that huge job done. Still have the other beds to do, but the front was the hairiest.

Today I will be altering kid1s dress. That's the issue when she doesn't have time and I'm trying to fit as best I can without her here. Argh!

Then I'm going to try to find time for cuttings and gift wrapping. I've got a wedding, graduation, first communion, school concerts, rehearsal dinner, ball games etc to ready for. Lots and lots. Throw in starting fair projects - when will I have time for anything? I feel like I need 12 of me again today.

Anyone doing no mow may? I think town said we can't let lawns get longer than 6". Besides, we need to reseed the front yard. I told the hubs I may put the compost down in some areas as the dirt they filled the front with after the new street was crappy and/or the grass they used was not for this area. I'm not sure which. But we need to make it better. The compost may help. Will see what I have left.

Happy day to you all! Hope the weather is just mild rain for everyone.

Woke up to it raining. We need the rain so let it rain. Today is my 73rd birthday. The town ladies meet today for lunch. One of my BFF's is going so I may go to and eat a light lunch. DH and I are going out for supper probably around 5 so I want to be hungry then.

This morning I saw my first Oriole. So I hurried up and put jelly and an orange out. I had jelly out before but it was all gone thanks to the Sparrows.

Have a great day everyone.

Happy birthday, Jeanne.
Lots of sewing pickups today. My daughter and I will be at a PaTh conference this weekend. PaTh is the international group that certifies instructors for the therapy horsemanship. My daughter gets the continuing education she needs to stay certified.

Taking a break before the next alteration to the dress. I am taking it slow because it don't want to cause a big problem. The elastic is fixed and hem shortened and in. Ned to alter the shoulders and bust. Which then means I need to redo the sleeveless sleeve. I'll be glad to get it done.

Lucy: yay for jobs done and for recert! How often does that need to be done?

AM: pouring here!

I'll be glad to get that sewing done and cleaned up for the moment. Oh don't get me wrong, I have plenty of sewing to do yet. But I need to move on to a few other things first and then cycle back.

The year is almost half done! I'm not ready for tot to be half done. Yes, a good warm up is what I was looking for to get flowers blooming, but I don't need another year almost done. Does time slow once the kids are gone or does it continue to go warp speed and you wake up one morning at 80 and say what have I done? Where did time go?

Need to take some cuttings soon. I should have done that 3 days ago. As I have said I'm way behind in some respects. I guess I should put my phone away, finish the projects at hand and get on with the day.

Dress done.

Wedding side gift almost done.

It's still raining pretty good here. Hopefully the earth welcomes the spring rain and it replenishes at least some of which we have been missing.

I have more dahlias to move around. Yay!

I'm taking a slight break and will head out there and take some cuttings to increase my net if coleus and tunies. Sometimes it takes tunies forever to root on cuttings. Which maybe I should read the best way to take cuttings. Whistling
