@dave

I've been keeping my plant lists private, but lately and every so often when I post one, I noticed that the grower reports are showing up on the main page.

You haven't kept your lists completely private, Marilyn. I can see a list of 55 plants.

I thought when I made my list private, that everything would be private.

You can't make your entire list private. It's on a category-by-category basis.

Marilyn, have you set up any categories in your list?

How did you make your list private? What steps did you take?

Yes, all have plant categories and one is "other plants".

It has been awhile and I don't remember now. My plant list used to be public when you first offered it and some time a lot latter I made it private.

You probably should go to your list and click on the "Manage Categories" link in the blue bar on the left. That way you can look to see if all your categories are marked as "private and only visible to me."

Okay, I need to make an adjustment to the code because it seems that under certain circumstances, if you move a plant from category to category it can mess up the privacy settings. I have adjusted it for you Marilyn and there shouldn't be any more problems. Plants that are hidden should show hidden now.

Your Scilla category is the only one that is not hidden and you have 11 plants in that category. Other than that you list should be 100% private.

I just did and I was very surprised to see the "open and visible to all" shown in the drop down space. I dropped down and picked, "private and only visible to me". (I had it as private for a long time). There wasn't a "save" button, so I was wondering if it would save. I reloaded the page and it goes back to "open and visible to all". Blinking Sad

So there was a glitch! Glad you spotted it, Marilyn.
Along the same subject, how do you go about viewing your list as others see it? I thought we could do that, but I don't remember how.

Thanks Dave! I tip my hat to you. Thumbs up

We crossed posted. Why is the Scilla category not private? Wouldn't that be private also? How do I make it private?

I just checked my plant list for Scilla and it only shows 1 plant, Siberian Squill (Scilla siberica 'Spring Beauty') Siberian Squill (Scilla siberica 'Spring Beauty') I confused to the 11 plants you say I have in that category. Confused

It must be the "other plants" category that I set up that's not showing up private. I just checked the Scilla 'Spring Beauty' and realized that it was in the other plants section and changed it to the Scilla section. I have now 5 plants in the "other plants" section. I didn't realize til now that by using "other plants" that whatever I added to it would be public. I hadn't gotten around to listing new categories for the different plants, so I just grouped them together. Guess I'm going to try and get new categories set up this week.

So, is there still a way to see our lists as they appear to other members?
