here is what the set up looks like when it's first planted... you have to keep in mind the plants need a small root ball to fit in the small holes of the planters sides

I won't put impatiens at the top again... too much of a bald spot compared to the coleus & torenia

you can see in this photo of a basket with mostly petunias how I used my failed seeds cow pots ...to hold the smaller root balls in... and hold the soil back until they are settled .. if you water too much too soon... the soil will wash out the holes

I bought these baskets on ebay... but don't really like them too much.. the deal with them is you can put a 4" pot in the spot with the mesh ... and then click the mesh in around the base of the plant... I found these hard to water... it would take a lot to work though the whole basket.. but I set up a drip line up these poles that I will get into later

the drip lines were easy to install... there is a connector you can just hook up to your faucet from the house... or Randy ran a hose that connects to PVC pipe and then off to my sprinklers, drippers and a garden hose he installed at the back of the yard

the bigger tube gets attached to a pressure regulator (we have city water and it can blow your skin off) there is a test you can do that is listed on the sprinkler warehouse website and time how long it takes to fill a gallon container.. and that will tell you if you need the regulator or not... we do... sooo after you hook up the lager supply line... we didn't dig anything.. I ran it along my retaining wall & cover it with mulch... from there there are little tubes you can just poke a hole anywhere in the supply line and run smaller lines out to where you need them.. and add the sprinkler head... pinch the end of the supply line where it ends with a clip they supply in the kit... and you are good to go... we ran this line 60 something feet and added in sprinkler heads to my "trees" and garden beds... if you want to get fancy you can add a timer to the whole thing... I didn't go that far though

in this photo you can see how we tried to hide the small tube the best we could .... the large supply line runs along the back of the posts and held on with U shaped clips that were nailed in

I always always... fertilize after a few months and I think the slow release is wearing off... I water the dickens out of these... and then wait 15 mins and water again until it looks like a water feature
