Christine, you are making me laugh. It wasn't too many years ago I had no late blooming daylilies and realised that bloom season ended much too soon. I got serious about late and extra late bloomers. I found out of the way sources that many people might not be aware of. Most important is that I realised that if I wanted to go late I was going to have to expand my horizons and include much plainer form daylilies than I had been used to (like the Olallie daylilies, some from Tranquil Lakes and my Hibard intros) and also branch out into UFOs and open form. Still don't care for real spider daylilies, late or not.

Plus when I started my daylily crazies I had no idea were things were hydridized and just bought lots of pretty faces. I know I ended up with lots of southern intros. But I learned about northern hybridizers and my tastes changed away from the southern beauties as I want great garden plants along with my lovely flowers. And I wanted rebloom.

Threads are never to old to add new daylilies, Sharon. Big Grin Thumbs up

I gave away Purple Many Faces, but Brace Yourself bloomed well last year. Hasn't bloomed, yet, this year. Indy Heart Stopper has been prolific this year, both in-ground and in a container

That is one of the reasons I don't really look at bloom time. They seem to bloom whenever they want in my yard and, often, that bloom time doesn't correspond to what it 'ought' to be. Big Grin

Lime Frost is not late for me, either. Last year, Indian Ripple not only was a late for me (but it was new) and rebloomed too. I am anxious to see how it does this year with the more "normal" weather. It is classified as a ML with extended bloom ~Jan

Every year, I bemoan the lack of bloom and color in my garden in the late summer and fall, and promise myself that "next year I'll add more late bloomers!" Here we are in July, and once again, I haven't added anything to extend my bloom season. I think I'm so enamored with the spring flowers and the end of winter that my garden is too heavily weighted in that direction. Seeing this post pop up reminds me that I should get a few late bloomers to keep the color riot going later in the year!

Here are some of the very lates in my garden Desiree, Party Hat and Waves Become Wings. There are quite a few lates here are some, I have a number of Reckamps also Coral Majority, North Wind Dancer, Orange Clown, Sunny Intervals, Susan Weber, Indy Fireworks to name some of them. The Reckamps take awhile to settle in and some of them increase slowly perhaps I should move those to better locations when I get around to it. Whistling

I need to star this thread so I don't forget about it. I curently only have 3 late/mid-lates in my collection, I think. And Frans Hals is blooming now -- if this is mid-late, then I need some VERY lates. Hilarious!

Dana! This is something I've been working on. I spent a couple years trying to track down Dale Thomas intros (mentioned early in this thread). Last year, I noticed Scapehunter on the LA was selling some, including a few that he had introduced with Dale's permission for him.

I see Scapehunter only has one item on the LA right now, but I bet if you contact him, he can give you a list of the lates he has available. I bought from him last year, and he did a real nice job... if you're interested.
