I agree, heck, people are still buying Pink Stripe seeds, and I havent seen any really good things that it passed on.
I love the orange and pink in it, Ive always wished for a version with much more substance.

I would try crossing 'Undefinable' with 'Augie's Unique Beauty'. If there was a tet conversion available of 'Doctor Strangelove' I would try it with 'Undefinable'.

Thanks, Mike. We will probably use the whites that we have, and we have several. We can always add TTS later. I know that you like white daylilies and grow several, too.

Speaking of whites, I added Isabelle Rose. That would be an interesting cross.

Wowza! That clump shot of Doris and David is b-eau-ti-ful! Definitely one to be proud of as a namesake. The bloom is gorgeous and at 37" high is right where I like them Thumbs up I would not be able to afford this on my current budget, but maybe in a few years. This is the first daylily I am ever putting on my want list. Smiling

@casshigh, do you know what the parentage is?

Vickie, thank you! I checked Nicole's website for the parentage but it is not listed. It may or may not be once it appears in the AHS database.

Thanks, Doris. I also wanted to put H. Doris and David on my want list, but since it is so new it isn't possible. I will have to star my post so I can do it when the database gets updated.

James, I see that Undefinable is a evergreen and that you are in zone 5b, are you concerned with hardiness. My wife saw the picture while I was looking and seemed to fall in love with it, but living in zone 5b/6a, I am having a difficult time spending $350 for a single fan evergreen. I wonder what a cross with Explosion in the Paint Factory (a Dormant) would produce.

Thanks,
Gale

Gale I have only had a few evergreens that could not make it through the winter here and they were added late last year leading into a brutally cold winter. I have never lost one that was planted in the spring or early summer. For the most part though, I have a whole bunch of snow cover (the ONLY benefit to living in a lake effect zone) which keeps them relatively insulated. I realize that is not the case everywhere so my experience may not be truly reflective of the USDA zone. I don't know what Nicole's policy would be on replacing a plant that did not survive the winter but you may ask if you are seriously considering it.

James, Thanks for your response. We have few days with snow cover here, just cold and often windy. Perhaps two or three inches of bark mulch would have the same effect, I do have a few evergreens purchase from Earlybird, that have survived two winters with the bark mulch. Perhaps a year or two waiting to see how it fairs for others in the North would be prudent, although, this flower, being the first Daylily to peak my wifes interest, could lead her to join me in collecting new Daylilies Smiling

Does anyone know Nicole well enough to ask her if she would allow her images to be added to our database, which would include a link back to her site?
I am wowed by that UNDEFINEABLE, I predict any seed sales of that would allow anyone owning it to quickly recoup your initial purchase price.

I agree with Michelle. I think she will do it.

I would imagine Sue, you would like Undefinable, I have always followed the rose forums, and you have great taste in roses, as you seem to gravitate towards the bi colors..as do I. nodding

I want that Undefinable because it reminds me of a great camellia...repeating myself Blinking

Yes Pam, I prefer blooms with more than one solid shade, for roses, daylilies and Iris. That daylily would be a delight to see what new look it would give with each bloom, so entertaining! Plus, it's an exciting break in daylilies!
