Paul check again for those plants. I found Staghorn Sumac (Rhus typhina). Its number is 78728.
Hope this helps. Let us know.

Guess I don't understand what I am doing. Not so unusual for me. I type in the name of the plant. When it comes up I go to the bottom of the page and some have numbers and others doing the same thing have no number Shrug! I should probably leave this to others who are more savvy........

Try going only 1/3rd or so of the way down. Scroll down while watching the FAR-LEFT blue custom menu bar.

Click on this and look to the left:

You should find this or something like it:

@Dave, maybe the plant ID at the very BOTTOM of the page still has variable visibility.

Instead of copying the number, you can copy the entire URL (also known as the web address) of the plant in question.

Take a look at this plant:

Lambsquarters (Chenopodium album)

The url looks like this:

http;//garden.org/plants/view/80986/Lambsquarters-Chenopodium-album/

(I replaced the colon with a semicolon so the url wouldn't be converted by the ATP system.)

You can put that in the multi-plant tag field instead of the plant ID and it'll work, too. In fact, that's usually how I do it because it's more convenient to just copy and paste the web address instead of going down the page to get the plant ID.

I somewhere got the impression that all plants on the data base had an ID number which made managing labels so easy. Far fewer typos. Even thought about going back and to my old Multi-plants and making certain they were as correct as possible. Sorry that isn't actually the way it is.

Paul, all the entries do have a number found as Rick posted, on the FAR-LEFT blue custom menu bar.

The number is also part of that URL address like Dave posted. Do you see that number right in the middle of that url? It's the same Plant ID number found on the left side. Personally, I have ever scrolled down to the bottom to find it, too time consuming. nodding

(I also wanted to confirm that you know how to copy and paste. You made mention of "fewer typos" so I got the feeling that you were typing in the number, thus the url address would have been daunting of course. If you are unsure how to copy/paste, we can help with that, we want this to be super easy for you! Thumbs up )

Oh and I think in Dave's recent edit, the ID numbers are no longer at the bottom anyway.

something strange is happening - i don't seem to see any plant ID numbers. even on a plant that i saw the ID sev days ago (Oryza sativa 'Red Dragon') - it's gone now.
also parent entries don't have ID's (chrysanthemum x grandiflora and Heuchera too). a few plants i cut and pasted the name on top when entering in multi-plant photo. some took, others did not. this is just happening today only. did something change?

I see it for Coral Bells (Heuchera)

Right where it's supposed to be for Rice Plant (Oryza sativa 'Red Dragon')

Have you read any of the above posts that explain where to find them?

i just found it on the left, but it used to be on the main page, at the end. so it's not there anymore, i guess?
i also picked it up from URL, i did not realize i can use that too. thanks, but there must have been some sort of change on how it works recently?

Yes, I believe so, a couple of days ago. You can also copy the URL address. Even easier, no scrolling. Thumbs up
