Now I noticed a third one poking it's head out. I'm very pleased with this one, as the seeds were quite small from this cross, and I wasn't sure they would be good.

Good news, Tom! Your new batch will be ready to grow outside when the weather warms. If they are this hardy you may not have to wait three years for a bloom.

Cross number 4 popped his little head out today, that makes 4 crosses up and growing. Some of the others are sending out additional ones now too. Smiling I only have 8 in all, so half are growing so far.

Big Grin Great!

I finally got my seeds planted 1/2 Tuesday and 1/2 yesterday. Hurray! I had 14 crosses...but 3 or 4 of those were bee pods I decided to grow for fun too!

The mamas (Pod Parents) with the most seeds were Poem of Ecstasy and Strawberry Frosting. I don't know if that's a characteristic of the pod parent, the pollen parent, the skill of the pollen dauber (...definite rookie here ! Sticking tongue out ) or more likely the combination of all of the above.

When I was doing the crosses I didn't know the importance of doing it first thing in the morning, the first day the pod parent is open, and of closing the stigmatic lip...so many of my cross failed...which is probably a good thing! Whistling
