Tom, don't you have a nice batch of seedlings sprouted by now too? You have not mentioned them in a while. How are they doing? There were about 3 or 4 weeks ahead of mind...so I'm guessing they should be getting up to what...4" or 5" tall?

Here are a couple quick photos of some of my seedlings just to give you an idea of how they are coming along.

Mine are doing pretty well, I didn't get as good percentage of germination as last year, but what is growing is doing well. I've been taking them out in the sun shine on nice days. Some new ones are still popping up yet once in a while.

Question:
If I bought a Iris last year and it bloomed this year should you let it increase a few years before using it in a cross?

The developing seed pod doesn't seem to take enough energy away from the plant to stop it from increasing as normal. At least it doesn't seem to me to be an issue.

I have a new sprout showing among the iris babies this morning. After all this time, the others are big already, and this little guy just came up. Smiling

I have a bunch of sprouts from Cat's Eye, quite a few from Casper's Shadow and not a one from Brevity. I had eight good seeds so I expected some to grow. I am patient and I will not disturb their growing area for a year or more if it takes it. Such fun to watch the tiny little pointy green tips break ground.

The last time I counted on March 15, there were 60 new iris babies.
I just counted a few minutes and I'm up to 62. Hurray!

This cross (Ring around Rosie X Grand Circle) is growing like crazy. A little over two months growing under the lights and the fans are nearly 10 inches tall. This pic was taken over a week ago. Starting to get them use to the out of doors now that we have better weather now.
