Hi, @Joy,
Sorry to be a pill about plant IDs but Dianthus barbatus 'Sooty' should be near black, not red.
Was this grown from self-sown seed, or seed from 'Sooty', by any chance? If so, it may be better to refer to it as Dianthus barbatus ex. 'Sooty'... and to possibly move such photos to the general Dianthus page?
There are other photos posted under 'Sooty' also that don't show the flower colour that is supposed to characterize 'Sooty'.

It was grown from seed from my original Sooty plant. The other photos I have under this are the original Sooty plant. Some of the photos were taken with a flash however, so the bloom looks more red. I have requested to have my latest photo moved to the general Dianthus page.
