Sorry to be a pill about plant IDs but
Dianthus barbatus 'Sooty' should be near black, not red.
Was this grown from self-sown seed, or seed from 'Sooty', by any chance? If so, it may be better to refer to it as
Dianthus barbatus ex. 'Sooty'... and to possibly move such photos to the general
Dianthus page?
There are other photos posted under 'Sooty' also that don't show the flower colour that is supposed to characterize 'Sooty'.
