I understand that, but I don't see the usefulness of that. With a forum thread, a post may continue to be read months after it has been made, so editing would is useful. Once a person reads their tree-mail they are not likely to go back and reread, so edits would serve no purpose. It would be better to just send a follow-up to correct any misinformation that may have been sent. Now being able to retrieve before it is read would be useful. You could then correct typos, misinformation or just words that you might have regretted using, before they were seen.

I use tree-mail for private conversations with ATP friends -- kind of like chat/text messaging, only not instantaneous. So we DO have conversations that go back for long periods of time, and I do go back and re-read them sometimes (more than I do posts in threads, honestly). And that means I also see the ones I sent, that are part of that conversational thread, and sometimes the typos jump out and slap me upside the head. nodding

So really, I guess it all comes down to how one uses t-mail as to whether the idea makes sense. It sounds like Natty and I use it similarly, and so I understand where she's coming from, but also understand the points others are making. Personally, I *rarely* t-mail folks I don't already "know" from a forum here, and I do save most of my t-mails, as well. I have lots of encouragement from good cyber-friends stored up in my inbox. I use the Tmail they same way & even though I proof & preview, I still miss typos more often than I would like. Also, my geezer kicks in & I will hit finished instead of preview & there she goes off into the wild blue yonder & I have no way to fix my typos.
I am a strong believer in the simple fact is that what matters in this life is how we treat others. I think that's what living is all about. Not what I've done in my life but how I've treated others. ~~ Sharon Brown

I have occasionally re-read a tree-mail and wondered if I may have worded something that might be taken differently than I meant, in which case I send a follow-up tree-mail to clarify. This usually rather cements a budding friendship rather than alienates anyone. It also reminds me to choose my words more carefully. I don't think any changes need to be made (my opinion).
I want to live in a world where the chicken can cross the road without its motives being questioned.

Deb, I do the same thing often. Good friends know what I meant, but I'm always afraid that others don't. I am always sending a second message, with "what I meant to say was..."

Just trying to get out of all those second messages to fix my errors, and clear up what I wrote on others.
