If you have a specific plant in your garden that requires consistent moisture, you can make a plastic beverage bottle function like a watering globe, only better.

Rick, all good points. I'm certain there are certain areas of my garden that would benefit from both the watering and the feeding. I'm thinking of my shade garden which is under a large double-trunked cedar tree. Looks like I will have some experiments to conduct next year!
Marilyn, considering that I usually write better than I speak, you can only imagine the pickles I get myself into *Blush*

Old gardeners never die. They are just pruned and repotted.

I'll have to give this a try for our larger containers, 12-24". An attractive colored bottle would not detract overall. Our large Passiflora comes to mind. It grows to 9' on strings attached to an old rake head mounted under the eaves of the house and is difficult to keep adequately watered in high summer.
