Ken is right about moss on the ground after a storm or just a breezy day. It makes a terrible mess here, I had a huge clump in my driveway this morning. It was probably close to $10 worth at Lowe's and I threw it away. Sighing!

I just throw or drape the sizable chunks back over the oak limbs. I don't know why, just being frugal I guess. I surely have way more than I can ever use. When someone asks for S. moss, I gladly give it to them. When someone wants a potted or a mounted plant draped with it, I do that too, without charge.

Wow, Becky - such flair with the wreath..

Tillandsia xerographica Elaine is cool. I must get.

At the moment I am trying to cope with a Dyckia marnier-lapostollei hybrid. I have trouble working out if it is dead or alive. It is a bit like keeping turtles.

Rolling on the floor laughing Glen, keeping turtles. Except the dyckia will still bite you even if it IS dead, right? Be careful!

Yes Elaine. I thought I would separate them out to see if they were still growing and I got severely mauled.

A new Bromeliad I bought this spring has popped a flower spike for me - Billbergia Novena

Thumb of 2016-07-31/dyzzypyxxy/e81fdc

Just in case all of you haven't seen it before (at least 2 or 3 times) a couple of my Billbergia pyramidalis 'Kyoto' also have flowers coming along. These are very vigorous plants and I have spread them all through my shady border area.

I've been taking pictures of 'Kyoto' each day to watch its progress. Here it is from this morning:

Each of those little purple tips will open into a nice little lily-shaped floret - maybe tomorrow. I will update.

I was amazed to see lots of Tillandsias recurvifolias growing wild on the city trees. And they were blooming!

So they bloom in the winter? The farther north, the warmer the weather correct? Those are beautiful. The trees here are full of bromeliads but I rarely see them blooming.

I'm off to google maps now to look at the locations. I wish my google maps showed me lat and long, I think that's key but I can't figure out how to get it to show up. I'm assuming that say 20°N is close to the same as 20°S all other things, oceans, mountains, etc. being the same.
