Just an FYI, contractile roots are not meant to be permanent. If they don't dry up and die, they won't contract. I know you're talking about roots in general.

"Flabby" is an interesting choice of words. I am guessing you don't mean fat, but actually mean they lose moisture and shrink a bit, making them pliable-flabby? Yes then, the fissures caused by dying, dead or shrinking cells would be easy entry points for rot pathogens. The bulbs rot because they get too dry and then get too wet.

Nice yellow asiatic pendant lilium Anthony.I prefer pendants to uprights, more graceful to my eye.

Martagons have always been a challenge to me.You look back on the past season and think , I could write a book on what I did wrong.Difficult in my warm climate to achieve the perfection that you see in the colder climates, but as I'm growing from seed and one main goal is to breed warm hardy martagons for my conditions, those that survive, I'm grateful for.The yellow is pollen-less.
Here are a couple flowering now and you can see in the background a new seedling structure that also acts as a wind-break.

Looks to me like you're doing very well, Vanozzi. That lush foliage in the center of the third photo says it all! I, too, think the colors are telling of good care.
