Interesting. My thunbergia looks like it and is the only fall bloomer I've ever known about. All the rest are spring/summer bloomers.

It is like a science project... getting them all in beds is a feat also... already I have had to dig a new bed this year - move old beds around and re work still yet others... - height and color and tone and and and ... Growing Iris can be a full time job to get them to look right!

I'm On Fire being an intermediate will be mid-seson for that type of iris. So it will probably bloom before many TBs. However it & early season TBs might bloom at the same time. Something listed as E M L must keep sending up stalks.

I figgure I probably really should have ordered afew iris that I could have put into the big backyard bed that I made last year. Some of those just aren't thriving like my older ones did. That's the bed I weeded and found some rot. But I will just leave everything, maybe some struggleing will make a comeback. Next year I just know I really will want to be ordering. Then I can just replace any clunkers at that time. Last year I ordered late in the year and just don't want to do that now. I really like to plant in mid July.

Yippppeeeee .I ordered Twiggi from Dee and planted it a few weeks ago. It has a bloomstalk and bud on it.
Could it be a rebloomer?
Just checked and it IS a RE.

Wow! That's great. But it may not do so again. I have only had one iris ever rebloom for me-Immortality. I've decided our summers are too short.

I Bless which is an intermediate iris is a very good rebloomer. The flower is a bit large in the spring, but smaller on the rebloom. Smiling

JoAnn, I love your collages. What a great idea!
I swore off ordering any iris this year since I lost so many last winter. Yesterday I got a box full from the Kitty13 cubits coop, and now I'm wanting to build another bed!
I've never ordered from Keppel or Superstition, but people in my club and friends from Region 18 just love them. Pretty much every year for the last several I've ordered from Snowpeak and BlueJ. Who all is still taking orders? If the heat breaks...meaning gets back down into the 90s sometime soon, I may be able to do some dividing and planting. Oh how I would love to get some newer lacy ones. I love love lacy pink and orange ones. Our club has a special pink art glass award for the best pink at the main show. Someday I'm going to win that. I didn't get to show a thing this year...had knee surgery and barely even got out to see what survived the horrible winter.
Maybe the heat's a blessing. I can spend the extra time before planting making a photo diagram the way JoAnn does, and then I wouldn't have to rearrange them after they bloom!
Does anyone else just plant alphabetically? Or make sentences with the names? Or plant theme gardens with the names? Creates some wacky color schemes when you do it that way. Whistling
Remember that children, marriages, and flower gardens reflect the kind of care they get.

I feel very non-creative. Just plant on a space available basis for ordered plants. The same for seedlings & then line out seedlings for increase.

I try to combine colors with exhisting perennials.I use Picasa to match colors or find a complimentary color.
There have only been 3 iris in my gardens up until Polly K wrenched my arm to grow them. am so glad I paied attention.I had only early blooming dwarfs until this spring,I ordered medians and intermediate s that have just been planted.
I dont have beds of iris, just 2 or 3 new plants arranged together.
Iris gifts are planted with color families.
I deliberatly order iris for a particular area where I have a perennial that blooms same time.
I learned they go well with Nepetas and Salvias, just last winter.

I have a pirates of the Caribbean bed, a Southwest bed, and a food bed... they rest are placed where I thought they would fit in best - so yes my whole yard is a unique color mess Smiling
