This is the only time of year my indoor space gets much attention, so I can at least find something positive about winter. I haven't been able to bring myself to put up a tree though, just not into it this year. I'd rather look at flowers than lights and bobbles, although I do love lights and bobbles, I'd rather see them after the holidays when winter seems really dark and gloomy. I have been doing something in the garden every day though, even if it's just pulling a few weeds for 15 minutes, I'm making myself get out there, and it is therapeutic. My dog likes to do her rounds and sniff around the property, and I throw a stick several times for her to get some activity, so it's a good incentive to get me outside.
Last year winter seemed to hang on for so long, and in my desperation to see something blooming, I started picking up some orchids from sale racks. That has been a fun endeavor, and I've got a new flowering stem arising from one of them! This year I picked up some African Violets to feed the need for colorful blooms. I used to grow them, but it was 30 years ago, so I hope I still have the touch! They were cheap, so no biggie if they don't make it- they're pretty now
