The urge for a nap cannot be denied. It's really useless to fight it since we're not at our best in the garden when we're so tired.

Lovely, but sad that JI season is over. Mine ended early due to a prolonged heat wave.

R. Giskard is still going in two other gardens but the end is very near now. Hard to think of waiting 11 months before they return but they did put on a fine performance.

Thanks, Leslie. Even a blue LA surprised me by blooming late (7/5) this year.

Does anyone know of a definitive list of tetraploid JI? I've updated my list and have 35 (per the SOCJI 2003 Cumulative checklist), 2 probable and another 6 possible based on parentage. Possibly 43 total.

Sorry, I don't know of any master list of JI tet's. Maybe Sharon Whitney (Earthheart) or Darlyn Wilkinson (Greywood) would know.

Good suggestion Arlene. I've had another bust year trying to pollinate a tet, any tet.

I should have noted that I added some plants registered after 2003 and therefor not in the 2003 Cumulative list.

Tets just aren't easy to work with. I also have a hard time getting seed and when I do the flowers are poor, usually with petals that cup or abruptly fold downward.

Seems like going through the checklist and adding any that you know were introduced after the last publication should do it. Several years ago Dee made up a list for me from the 2006 checklist and that came to 26 so obviously more have been added since.

I don't have any information regarding which ones cup. But I have observed it in my own seedlings and more importantly confirmed to me by Kevin Vaughn that cupping is indeed a problem.

I would be surprised if Margo-no-Sakura was tetraploid. That one sets a pod for every flower without my help. Perhaps I will take a closer look this year at the seeds within these pods. Last year I just tossed them during clean up.

Nice seedlings, Paul! I like #4 the best for its significant blue halo.

I just finished a round of culling, dividing and replanting my small collection of JIs. I didn't do many crosses this year but will start the few seeds I collected.

Looking forward to more photos of your JIs, Paul!
