Kabby,
Right now the perennials that are planted down in the bog are mostly Daylilies, Cannas, Asiatic Lilies, Purple Coneflowers(upper part of the beds).I know there are a few more misc. in there but can't think exactly what they are, a few shasta daises and some gerber daisies I know (just planted them last year and hoping they do well). I plan to plant vegetables down there in the spring: Tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, etc. along with some watermelons. Annuals will be a little bit of everything sprinkled about here and there. Mainly I plan to feature daylilies down there, it just seems like the perfect home for them. Too, I hope to finally plant enough Zinnias down there to really make a show, I had some last year and they did very well in all but the wettest spots. Mildew did finally get to them late in the year, but I was able to plant two crops and they stayed pretty resistant up till October. Even planted sunflowers down there last year and they were doing terrific except for the critters constantly digging them up. Many things planted down there that did not live I think would have if given half a chance but they were constantly be dug out of the ground and having to be replanted. The bog should not be nearly as boggy this year due to the tons of leaves and grass clippings I have added, but I say that every year.

@Seedfork Seed isn't it exciting to have forgotten some of your plants and being pleasantly surprised when they pop up unexpectedly. I hope the bog will be drier this yr so your veggies will grow nicely. Do you know what your critter is? It's aggravating for your hard work to be destroyed. Armadillo was my nemesis. Im so ready to get back out there and start working.

Yes my critter is an armadillo, a possum, a raccoon or any other creature that comes out of the woods, I have trapped all the above in my trap, but being near the little stream and the woods, there is a never ending supply of critters.

I agree regarding Spring Fever. Thumbs up

I sure hope it isn't going to be a long cold & snowy winter like last year. Seemed like it was never ending. Thumbs down

I have several oriental lily's in groups of 3 to 5 bulbs planted in my daylily seedling bed.
During peak daylily season when they come into bloom, the fragrance is intoxicating.
My favorite time of the year.
