A few more...most all looked fairly healthy considering the freezing weather and being outside under a thin sheet of plastic.

Thanks....I think this new cold front might do some of my tropicals in. It's going to be 20....then up to 70 this weekend.

About that "Smokin' Loon"....he tried Chantix....but gave up....can't smoke in the house so he tries to poison my plants instead!

Took pic of this hibiscus thru the plastic on the hoop house. In spite of the freeze, it bloomed and brightened my day!

My smokin' loon gave up smoking with Chantix. Then later after he was off that medication he gave into temptation. Some people just can't stop until they're on life support or something.
I would feel more optimistic about a bright future for man if he spent less time proving that he can outwit Nature and more time tasting her sweetness and respecting her seniority. E. B.White

Unfortunately and sadly, it seems stopping the Chantix has made him smoke even more now. I worry about him....

Had to laugh at your comment.."bullet proof".... I went to lunch with a real good friend ( from our early AF wives days) a few years ago. She asked, "Did you ever think we'd live this long?" I think we figured anyone over 40 was ancient back then....
Reminded me of the t-shirt that reads, "If I'd Have Known I Was Going to Live This Long, I'd Have Taken Better Care of Myself!"

Got to get me one of those t-shirts! Was talking to an older woman in the store the other day. She seemed sad. Her DH passed away and she has no children. Now just a cat...one she can't really afford to take care of properly.

Yes, the whole yard kinda looks like that. DH is flying out tomorrow for a funeral. I have to be here for a mtg.

Hope to start tearing out the front bed while he's gone,... like I planned to do last year about this time. The ghs are okay. I'm going to lose some to rot, but overall...I'm pleased that as much survived. I was out front pulling back leaves and mulch and saw bulbs breaking thru. Looks like the fancy lilies I bought from the co-op are going to make it also. It took me about half an hour to fold all the sheets and blankets I used to cover stuff. So far...all's right with the world...........wait except for the new squirrels that have moved into the neighborhood. They managed to get into the gh and dug up my EEs.

How'd your garden fare?

Hey lady that looks bad. You used to have a madagascar palm in the front corner of you house did that make it?

It went in last year's freeze. After all the freezes that it survived with just a blanket around the trunk, it cratered one cold morning. DH wasn't sad to see it go, tho. It would attack him whenever he walked by. I bought it for less than a couple of dollars in a small 5" pot at C&J's a few yrs ago. It loved being on the porch, and even angled out from the roof eaves when it got too tall. I also lost a Queen palm that shaded the pond.

I always see dead palm trees after a real bad winter. My yard looks bad, also. It'll look a bit better when I get some of the obviously dead parts cut back. I just miss the blooms! Only my rosemary is blooming.

I was just on my way home from taking DH to the airport. 'Stuck on the hwy behind traffic accident on the overpass, so I veered into another lane and zipped over to Home Depot to look around the garden center. Good thing I had the car instead of the truck! I would have bought every flower I could carry! They had fruit trees on sale...5 gal /$20. They really didn't look so good.... I drove on to Lowe's and they had at least as many annuals...still unloading the shrubs, etc. Now I've had my "fix" and have come home to cut more dead stuff.
Don't you think we're still due a few more freezes? I was looking at posts from last year, and Mar 20 we were talking about the freeze coming that night!
