Over the weekend, finally got to repotting our cycad. Been delaying it for quite awhile, ..and trying tofind a better place in the garden to put it afterwards. Since it is now Spring and temps gradually improving, though we are getting some late season rains, seems like a good time to tackle repotting it. Really needed some help from my hubby, hard to round up those pokey leaves
Before: this photo was taken last year 26Mar2013, plant looks the same anyways, slow growing, it was able to add new leaves in September. But it does not make it easy going around it with its pokey leaves. And need to separate a pup growing at its base too.

Removed the pups, and loosening up the soil
Caudex has been lifted and a close-up. finally a new home for the cycad. Got a nice corner for it as it recovers from the repot disturbance. Lifted the caudex up, and removed some of the yellowing bottom leaves. I read later, I should have just left it till it gets all brown..oh well, too late, have chopped off those leaves.
And, fun part, not just one, but two pups! Setting it aside to dry out
