That's a beauty Tarev! Can you wrap it in something like a plastic drop cloth to move it? It would be a shame to lose those leaves while they are still green.

I have been lazy, I still have not repotted my cycad. It seems the plant does not mind.. so it is now the turn of baby cycad growing beside its mom, to grow its new set of leaves. Cannot even see the entire baby plant, I just know it is there because of the lower leaf offshoots beside mommy plant. Maybe I will just tackle the repot next spring, when weather is a bit cooler.

My other young cycad is likewise starting to make new center leaves:

I love that these ones are truly one of my few plants that truly enjoys the temps even if it is hitting 100F.

Pretty cycads Tarev. Are they cycas? Or which one are those?

3 of my cycads are flushing now. It is so awesome to see the new curled leaves coming out!

Hola
Glad you started this topic, thanks.
My collection is varied plants and unknowns, however, I hope to ID some of my unknowns soon. I currently have:
Sago palm {Cycas revoluta} Cycad http://aggie-horticulture.tamu... has pictures and ionformation.
pony tail palm {Beaucarnea recurvata} member of the Lilaceae (lily family) closely related to Yuccas
I have another interesting something that my guess is a cycad of some sort possibly palm something but havn't yet identified this plant. I'm thinking more cycad at this time. As soon as possible I will upload a picture.
Safe travels & many blessings
Oh, does anyone know of a website which would give good pictures and word descriptions for help with identifying house plants? Group hug

Dogpack, if you want to identify cycads (or differentiate cycads from palms), the best site to go is here:

http://cycadfriends.co.za/inde...

These guys are the experts in cycads not only because they live mostly in the countries where cycads originate from, but also because on that forum there are many licensed experts in cycads. They have specific sub-forum for identifying cycads, so try posting some pics there. Somebody will help you for sure. I love that forum.

And here's their portal: http://cycadfriends.co.za/site...

Those are great photos, Erik! Makes me smile! We're hoping spring can't be too far behind.

Hope you'll enter the first two in to the palm database.

Over the weekend, finally got to repotting our cycad. Been delaying it for quite awhile, ..and trying tofind a better place in the garden to put it afterwards. Since it is now Spring and temps gradually improving, though we are getting some late season rains, seems like a good time to tackle repotting it. Really needed some help from my hubby, hard to round up those pokey leaves Big Grin

Before: this photo was taken last year 26Mar2013, plant looks the same anyways, slow growing, it was able to add new leaves in September. But it does not make it easy going around it with its pokey leaves. And need to separate a pup growing at its base too.

Caudex has been lifted and a close-up. finally a new home for the cycad. Got a nice corner for it as it recovers from the repot disturbance. Lifted the caudex up, and removed some of the yellowing bottom leaves. I read later, I should have just left it till it gets all brown..oh well, too late, have chopped off those leaves.

And, fun part, not just one, but two pups! Setting it aside to dry out Smiling
