I think I've seen Wabash on NAPA

It's quite similar

Neal, If you do not get a trade for Wabash this year I can send you one next year. I just planted a rhizome this fall. It is hardy here and I may even have some this summer.

Thanks Bonnie! Funny how common it is and how it has evaded me, LOL.

In my opinion, shared by very few, every iris garden needs a Wabash. LOL But I have unusual garden dreams.

It is such a hardy plant all irisarians should grow a big clump of it.

I ordered it from a co-op years ago, it wasn't Wabash either so if someone has spares this summer, I would still love to get it!

I've never thought to purchase it, knowing that usually folks who have Wabash, have lots of it. But its definitely my kind of Iris, that happily withstands being crowded among other plants Smiling

oooooooh--Yes! real-honest-to-goodness Wabash?!!

Don't you think even a non-irisarian should too?
I would so gladly volunteer!

I don't know that I have anything of value to an irisarian to trade *Blush* (I have a whole slew of ancient noids that came with the house, you know purples that smell like grapes and yellows that smell like lemons Hilarious! and various 'found' feral irises) but I would gratefully compensate--however you choose nodding

You've got the one your husband likes that we all went nuts over! Iris folks are not hard to please, LOL. And Wabash is one of those that non-irisarians should grow, just because its a great, reliable perennial!

I should have enough and no exchange is necessary, Dirtdorphins. I love spreading a wonderful iris around and you then can pass it on.

I'm going to have to see if my 'wabash' puts out PBF.. If not, then I've got the imposter. Couldn't find any pictures of it in the garden that showed the foliage. But if it does have PBF, then I've got lots to share. It's been growing in dry rocky soil where the gophers roam, and seemingly not bothered by it.

Sherry, I'm not sure how your climate may affect the PBF, but, in mine ,the PBF comes ,and goes ,throughout the season. Wabash never displays what I would call "stong" PBF, and, later in the season, it doesn't show any. The "PBF" an iris displays CAN be a useful tool in I.D., but it's not the total answer.
