I love camellias. This year I have more buds on my camellias than I can remember having for a long, long time. The absence of rain also makes the white ones look luscious. The white blooms are usually spotty this time of year because the rain discolors them.

One of my old camellias, which was here when I bought the house 30 years ago, must have had some interesting grafts because it produces three different kinds of blooms. I'll take some pictures tomorrow.

I generally do not like camellias of this color and, having said that, my friend gave me this one with the instructions that if I didn't like it I could gift it to someone else...which I thoroughly intended to do...until I saw the stamens...

I finally took pictures of that tree that produces three different kinds of camellias. I couldn't get all three into one shot, so the first photo shows two of them, and the second one shows the pure white one. They're all on the same camellia bush.

And this is what I meant about the buds. This is a corner of one that hasn't bloomed yet. Look at all of those buds! It's a great year for camellias.

The white ones usually look awful because they get brown spots from the rain, but these opened during the dry spell and look beautiful.

Hi, I don't know if we have a "Camellia" forum here (I searched, but none found). And then I found this thread many posting Camellia. So guess I will join. This is my second year of growing plants at home. "Amaryllis" was my first year's main project and the blooming ain't finished. Yet I had planned this year's main project: the Camellia. I have searched and found one cultivar to be my aim: Sasanqua 'MonDel'. I pick this one not only for its beautiful flower and foliage but the fragrance. Does anyone know the suppliers of this one? Am I picking the right time (Spring) to start growing Camellia? Thanks
If a plant looks good, smells good, don't eat it, grow it!

It looks like this is something that your local nursery that carries Monrovia plants could order:
