Looks like Bob Van Liere has some nice new ones coming down the pike. Mayan Mysteries is a really fast increaser, and a lovely bloom. Rob, I should have a Tying Yellow Ribbons for your box next summer. Just remind me.

Rob -- so sorry to hear about your chickens. That would kill me. We don't have bobcats, but we do have foxes and coyotes -- nuff said.

Maybe we can look at a couple more of Van Liere's work.

I think that Global Crossings is one of the most beautiful irises I have seen. I am partial to pastels but that flower really glows!

It's a really nice one, strong stems that hold up, lots of bloom, and it's fertile to use for crosses. Has nice parents too.

Ok, I have procrastinating on this one. I started a list and was going to post it when I noticed a cultivar that others spoke of, but was not on my list! But I know I had it. At the time, I was using the ATP list of my plants and not my database spreadsheet. Turns out I was right. I neglected to add the three cultivars I got from Moiris/Marilyn. Now that I have updated ATP, I can proceed as normal.

I really like "Special Kay". I got it for the name when Tom offered it up. I was hoping to surprise my mother-in-law with it this Spring, but she passed away this last November. I had not even told my wife until her passing. She wanted to see it in the garden (my wife is not very fond of my iris addiction, but she was moved by my attempt).

Greg, I'm sorry for your loss. "Special Kay" is a lovely rich color! I'm sure your Mother-in-law would have loved it. I understand the 'spouse' thing. DH would really prefer that I spend my time and money in other ways...but then again it's not up to him to choose which things become my passion. Maybe in time he will at least understand how much joy they give me. Shrug!

My husband would prefer that I were a little less enthusiastic about my Irises -- but his concern is for my ability (or lack of it) to take care of it all. This year has proven his concern valid. Sad

But during bloom season, I see him walking the beds every day -- checking on the new blooms. And once in awhile he'll remark on one or two. And I know that he brags to his buddies about my Iris beds -- because their wives want to come and see them!! Whistling Big Grin

That's great Greg & Mary Ann. I'm hoping that as I get more of them in the ground and they get established he might grow to appreciate them more. I've only been at it for 2 years now...
