Luckily my husband also is 'into' irises, just not happy with tall bearded, or even my BB seedlings. We are both crazy about SDBs. I ask him to consider TBs extending the bloom season.

To date I have no Van Liere irises. But three of his are on my wish list: Going Dutch, Global Crossing, and Sweeter than Honey. But most of all, Going Dutch. Would anyone want to trade Going Dutch for something I have?

I just found this thread in searching for a Van Liere iris I have, so I'm resurrecting it. I got this Van Liere BY HOOK OR BY CROOK (2021) as a free bonus when I ordered from Iris4U last year, and it just bloomed. I must move it as the solid white fencing doesn't flatter its coloring, but wow! I'm absolutely in love with the form! Curved, closed standards, not overly ruffled, and softly flaring falls. It is supposed to have horns and this bloom doesn't, but maybe subsequent blooms may. What do you think?

Different lighting, but perhaps a better look at the form

And it's tall! 1 year old plant, FFE, 41"

Iris flowers with appendages are well known for their erratic behavior.

Bit of a blast from the past, this thread!

I don't have any of his irises, though I think he made some very nice ones, especially Misty Morning Melody, Special Kay and Global Crossing.
Of course I talk to myself; sometimes I need expert advice!

I don't have any either, but I recently discovered his site. He has a lot of gorgeous seedlings not yet introduced.

That must be why my Mesmerizer often produces flowers with just two standards and two falls, especially at the end of the season .

I have Van Liere's Global Crossing. It is a beauty - one of my favorite neglectas.

If I ever get more room in my garden, I would try to get Global Crossings, but for now, acquiring Going Dutch is the aim for 2022. Limited space and limited room for planting. When the maple tree comes out this fall, that will create more sunny spaces in the garden for planting with irises next summer. Yay!
