I'm fine, Pam is fine, kazoo still works, I got a hankerin' to see how the old DG folks were doing and it looks like great things are happening over here. We did have some fun at those roundups.

Nicole is amazing!!! Doesn't she have two sister roses which look like her?

Yes she is...thank you hmf
http://www.helpmefind.com/rose...

"Nicole and Hannah Gordon are sister seedlings that have been confused in commerce in the USA for more than 20 years. Hannah Gordon is a tall, vigorous grower of 6 feet or more, about 20 petals, and a bright cherry pink edge, while Nicole is a modest plant of 30 to 36 inches, cream blooms with a softer pink edge and at least 35 petals. Hannah Gordon is known in New Zealand as Raspberry Ice. Tabris is a name given to Hannah Gordon by one seller in the Netherlands.

To confuse matters further, Glenda Marie, a third rose that is a sport of Hannah Gordon that was registered in 1999, has been sold as Nicole by Edmunds. Glenda Marie has shrimp pink blooms but is otherwise a tall, vigorous grower like Hannah Gordon."

HMF isn't always right, Andi. It's true that sellers confuse them, but there are three distinct roses. Hannah Gordon (KORweiso) was the first one, bred in 1983. It's a huge monster of a rose, about 8 or 9 feet tall and 4 feet wide in my garden. The other two came later, Nicole (KORicole) in 1985 and Tabris (KORtabris) in 1986. Nicole is very small, short and compact like a mini-flora, and is packed with petals. Tabris has the same petal count as Hannah Gordon, but it's shorter (6-7 feet in my garden) and not as bushy. Tabris also has the most wicked thorns imaginable. They're similar to the thorns on Snowfire, which are legendary.

My son gave me six Snowfire years ago hoping the cows wouldn't eat them (a fate suffered by past roses). Alas, most of them were mislabeled so my hedge was a failure. The one survivor has been trimmed severely; cows seem to like the blooms best.

Are the thorns as bad as George Burns? And I have a climber that has some wicked stickers... need to go look at the label to see who it is. I'm about ready to move it because of the bloodloss of where it's at!

They're even worse than the thorns on George Burns and the rose bush is so much bigger. You have to lean down before George Burns can hurt you. Imagine the damage it could do if it were 6 or 7 feet tall.

OUCH! GB was always grabbing me, but at least he was only 2-3' tall. 6-7 ft? That's evil. But the rose would be well fed from "bonemeal". LOLLLLLL Rolling on the floor laughing
