Maxfield Parrish was registered as having 35 buds, is it known to do better? Otherwise, half of 50 isn't so bad. I hardly ever have daylilies hit their 'advertised' bud count, especially the Florida plants. It's not that I think the hybridizers are being dishonest. I've seen antler-scaped, 50-bud plants with my own eyes in Florida gardens, and when I get them home, they're usually top-branched with 20.

Nice group of seedlings. This one in particular is fascinating. Is that a morning-only or cool weather effect, or is it consistent? What's the cross?

I'd like to know more about your avatar too.

91,302 registered cultivars as of this post to be exact:) There are 4,203 that are registered that start with the letter "G". I think we have only a fraction of those pictured here, lol!!

@touchofsky, Valerie, don't you just love 'Garden of Gethsemane'? Such a pretty reddish-purple. Depending on the day (and possibly my camera settings), the color can look more reddish than purple.

Garden of Gethsemane - on the far left is Lone Wolf, which looks similar, but has a small white edge.

Both of these next two pictures were taken in my garden six days apart and both taken around 8am, but the coloring looks so different!

Golden Sentry - I didn't think I would like a gold daylily as much as I do this one. And I like having it next to Night Embers. The two just seem to complement each other. Golden Sentry

@blue23rose

Vickie,
I love Garden of Gethsemane, too. It is such a lovely colour and it always looks good in my garden. I agree that it can look very different depending on the light. Lone Wolf is very pretty, too, and they look beautiful together In your garden! Here are a couple of more photos that I posted of Garden of Gethsemane.

My avatar picture is seedling is 16-64-A Mississippi Red Bed Beauty x Buddy's Black Lady . Stats. Are roughly 6.5"bloom ,32" tall, 3 way branching, probably a 20 bud count. Dark purple ,slight cream edge, nice ruffles. May register this one as (Liddy Love ) after our great niece

Hard to believe the alphabet threads are almost 3 years old. It's fun to look through the earlier posts and see so many new images being added, Thanks for bumping the "G's" up Ed. Maybe someone wants to start bumping the rest of the alphabet up?

I have a few new "G"s to add...

For fear of mislabeling my disorganized photos I'm drawing confirmed images from the database.

A real winner. Lots of cheerful blooms.

A new addition, great reputation. I've got high hopes for it once it's established.

So far I haven't been impressed with this one. It has a nice bloom but there are just too few of them. I'm keeping it for now hoping it performs better in the future.

I like this review of an older post during the slack time of winter............. Here's a daylily I've not seen mentioned. Depending on time, temperature etc the color can change from a deep pink to a red pink. Does pretty well about fading in 95+ degree heat too. Does not bleach out, which for a darker color is a big plus in my climate.
