John, I too am glad that your Rheumatoid Arthritis is under control. (if that is what RA stands for.?)

Great that you're studying Hebrew with your wife and reading texts in the original. My daughter is a Buddhist - an NP, she runs the clinic at a local monastery - and is studying Sanskrit. I have great admiration for anyone who takes up the learning of a new language.

So glad that you are better John. Here's to more gardening in the spring.

Our iris club used to order irises from overseas as a group. Certainly cut down on extra expense which was not plants.

Welcome back John! And congrats on the Hebrew. Great that you were keeping your mind busy while your body was healing.

Arrived safely in Menton; the house is cold but the heating is now on so it should warm up soon. The warming up process is also helped by the fact that we've opened a bottle of really nice Bordeaux... Big Grin

Neal, I think the only 'local' (in the sense of European) iris enthusiasts I know are Lilli, Sharlene and William. Most of my friends think I'm mad. They're wrong, of course! Hilarious!

OK this is really messed up. Our temps have been quite cold, and now they are predicting temps of 42 degrees and freezing rain for Christmas day! What a mess that's going to be.

Thanks guys, for all your kindness.
Garden wise, I haven't done anything in about 2 months or so. Pots are all crowded together, blew most of the leaves out and I didn't trim plants back this year. Got real tired towards the end of the season.

Blessings to you all.

Changing the subject (apologies) - - We've just got back from a big food shopping trip - which involved parking in an underground multi-storey in Monte Carlo. I used to get terrible static electricity shocks every time I pressed the button to get the parking ticket (same with the toll gates on the French motorways). But someone on this website, I don't remember who, said that if you touch metal when you press the button, you don't get the shock. I have been using this method ever since (some months now), just curling the fingers of my other hand over the edge of the window and onto the side panel of the car, and IT WORKS, IT REALLY, REALLY WORKS. So a huge thank-you to whoever it was, and a recommendation to anyone else who suffers from the static shock syndrome!
Wish I could remember who it was - I'd like to give him/her 5 acorns.... Smiling Smiling

I agree It's a trick my dad taught me when I was very young, and it does work.

i may have to try that trick, too. i get a static electric shock every time i sit down on some of my woven patio chairs, but there's no metal to touch b/f sitting down. maybe the umbrella stand? does it have to be touched simultaneously to work?

Perhaps you could put something metal beside the chairs, Daphne? I don't know if the touch has to be simultaneous - obviously it is with the car panel trick - maybe Karen knows?

Apologies again for the digression - I was just so thrilled not to be zapped every time I touched a button...

Jan, are you ordering anything extra from Tempo Two? I'm finding it hard to decide what to go for, there are just so many beauties...
