Not like you can see much anyways. I rather stay home and go to bed when I feel like it and eat what I want when I want. Whistling

DD flew home today (arrived safely, and was gaming online a bit with DH).

I finally got a nice nap today after the 49ers game. Dinner was leftovers (ugh, but we'll have better tomorrow). I'm maybe going to snack, I'll maybe have a glass of leftover champagne (if it's not flat by now, otherwise I'll go to Plan B) and am generally relaxing. No pet, but definitely staying at home in PJs, and (come to think of it) maybe having some more peppermint bark.

Happy New Year and glorious gardens to everyone!

Soon we can start looking at new iris to order!
I am going out to eat lunch with my 2 daughters and Mother to celebrate my birthday which is today. I am looking forward to ordering the filet steak.

Another holiday baby! Hurray! Happy Birthday, Derylin!

I have already started my few iris purchases - actually, replacement plants (due to problems on my end, not the vendor's). I have re-ordered the PCI PRETTY BOY (for Warp) https://wiki.irises.org/Pcn/Pc..., and the variegated I. japonica APHRODITE.

THIS time, I am not messing around with pots. Those plants are going directly into the ground (I will get my garden helper to dig the holes). The PCI will go with the rest of the PCIs (though color-wise it is not the best fit for where I will place it). The japonica will go out into the shady side yard, in a bare spot where construction workers did in a bleeding heart. Hopefully, although there are some redwood roots that far, it can tough it out. Crossing Fingers!

Later today, if I work myself up to wrestling on socks, I will go take a quick survey of the Near 40 plants. (I was hoping that the white iris seedling which bloomed last year on New Year's Eve would be in bloom, but the last that I saw, there was no sign of a stalk. Sad Perhaps the change in location (because I potted it) has something to do with that.)

I also have to take care of a "gift" somebody/something left on our pool deck, which DH (who was out there just a couple of days ago) couldn't be bothered to deal with. Glare We don't know if this is another case of predator poop (if so, it's awfully big), or something worse (from something 2-legged). Not too happy about that! Grumbling

I am probably going to have to have a needle injection into my eyeball today at the retinal specialist's office. I have age related macular degeneration, a genetic thing that runs in both my parents' sides.

The specialist ordered for me a new self-monitoring scope, paid for by medicare. I started the daily self monitoring this past week. Data gets transmitted by wifi to a monitoring station, and they are supposed to alert my doc if they see changes happening.

The problem is, the central dot used for fixation is missing its upper right edge. so there is a blind spot that is scarily close to center in the left eye. So, I thought I should report that to the doc. Now I have to go in there today, and I'm really not sure what will happen, but I know that the first line of treatment in wet AMD is an intravitreal injection. This scares me more than my cataract surgery did.

Frankly I wish I had someone to go with me and hold my hand.

Sorry to hear you have age related macular degeneration @DaisyDo. The treatment doesn't sound pleasant but it must be done if it will help. Believe me, if I lived in Maryland I would accompany you and hold your hand. You sure would not feel as apprehensive if you were not having to face this appointment alone. Hoping it goes well. Good luck with your treatment, I know sometimes the fear of the procedure is worse than the actual thing, let's hope for your sake, Just know that most of us on here are "virtually" there to support you at least. Group hug

Whew! The doc says that spot was there in the retinal photo taken last time, and it's showing no change. Apparently it's been there for awhile, and I just didn't notice it until I began using the self-monitoring scope. The scope is called Foresee Home, and I highly recommend that any of you with AMD get your retinal specialist to write a script for the scope. Medicare covers it. Secondly, take a supplement used in the AREDS2 study that proved to slow down or prevent wet AMD. It's a mix of lutein, zeaxanthin, meso-zeaxanthin, and certain vitamins and minerals. I have been taking it for about 26 years, ever since my aunt found out she was going blind from wet AMD. Apparently it works, because so far I have only dry degenerations which are not as bad.

Glad you got good news about that spot, Daisy, that the medication is working for you, and you didn't have to have the injection. Group hug
