Right now they are calling for a high of 101F tomorrow. That means it will be at least 104F at my place. I will be indoors all day tomorrow except to feed the fish at the crack of dawn. (I get up early.)

If I remember correctly, where you are is considered the San Fernando valley? (which is more inland than me). Today (here) is supposed to be 88-90 & sunday/monday around 93 degrees. I'm just going to go see a friend (1 block away..walk), water outside, then sit in my deliciously expensive air conditioning & go to the pool in my condo complex. Stay cool & keep hydrated! Thumbs up

They're calling for 101 here on Mon., but have dropped the wind warnings. I think the weekend staff just guesses.

They are calling for 102F for tomorrow. That means it will be around 105F at my house. We have a wind advisory and a fire weather warning. It is that time of year again.

Help, I'm melting! It's 95 outside & windy as hell. I think it's the infamous Santa Ana winds. Can't even be outside- the wind blows all kinds of dirt/sand in my eyes & they get irritated. Even Tigger is parked in front of the fan, airing out his undercarriage...

I'm sitting here watching the temp go up and the humidity go down in the orchid shack. Trying to decide whether to cart the orchids in to the bath tub, or just let them die. Of course I bought two new ones today. Supposed to be 104 tomorrow. So far, the wind hasn't been too bad here, but bad enough to suck the life out of plants.

Carol just give your orchids a good shower again tomorrow morning. I find they endure better that way when we are in those nasty triple digit heat.

Some of them will make it, I'm sure. Some won't take the heat, and none like the low humidity. I turned on the swamp cooler before I left at 9:30 this morning, and the house has stayed at 84, with Humidity at 39% which is better than outside. I just have to accept that some are not going to make it, no matter what I do. This is really our typical fall weather, but nothing has been typical the last year or so, and the sudden change doesn't give any thing a chance to acclimate. In the meantime, I'll keep misting, watering, etc..
I can bring the potted ones in, and put them in the bath tub, but what I'm going to do with all the mounted ones, I don't know. Can't water them if they're hanging on curtain rods, and my curtain rods wouldn't support them. LOL!

Gave my plants a nice good shower awhile ago it is so dry and no breeze either. Very quiet and still for sure soaring heat later. Just going to look ahead and imagine our nice cool down this coming weekend 😃

Our city offers free bus rides during our heat wave days, something nice!

It's supposed to reach 103 today where I am. While alot of people fly down south to escape the bitter cold, I want to go back to it right now! I'm tempted to go to my local grocery store & ask if I could sit in their freezer for a while....it is HOT!!!!!!!!

Lately there seems to be so many things that really bother me...things that other countires are so much better at than we are here....

In France, it is illegal for grocery stores to throw food away.......
It is instead given to Food Banks......
Here we throw it away.....
There was a time when folks in need could at least pull still good food from the store dumpsters..
Then it went to the horrendous practice of poisoning it so no one would get it....
Now we simply lock those bins so no one can get at it, better than poisoning, right?

When we lived in Venice Beach many years ago, one of the health food stores had a large bin where people could put clothing they did not need, and those who did need could help themselves.....
I could be wrong...
and.....
"maybe I should have kept my mouth shut....."
The Urge for Seeds is Strong in This One.....

95* would be a relief. My completely covered and shaded porch was just over 105 yesterday... at 10:30 a.m. No wind yet, but its just a matter of time. I'm hiding in the house until its over.
Can't complain too loud about how the ball bounces when I'm the one who dropped it.

You beat me! This very unusual weather. A friend on the orchids forum that lives in Brea only hit 102 yesterday. Normally, the closer to the beach, the cooler it is. I would like to hide in the house, but I spent the day trying to keep the temps down and the humidity up in the orchid shack after watering all the pots and baskets in the yard. I have all the movable orchids from the porch in the house where they can stay cooler and the humidity is better. I sure hope this the last heat wave of the season!
