Wanda Rezac is a VERY good grower for me....so far all the Jedlica intros I have tried do well for me.....we're about the same zone.....maybe that's the reason.

Greg - I think a raid of your garden is in order. We have all been eyeing Tom's but you have quite a few gems too!

We should have a favorite horned, flounced, spooned alphabet thread. That, paired with luminatas, should take us into bloom time.

If I were wishing, I'd pick between Zippo (I have some fond memories of Zippo lighters ) and...

Zingerado. Who wouldn't love that name? Plus, I like the flower.

another interesting thing about "Zee". In the Fall of 2012, it bloomed like crazy (maiden bloom for it had not bloomed in the Spring) and one of the Falls had a "fault" on it. I sent the pictures to the Spoons (Don & Ginny) and they said this happens with irises from time to time, but I think it was the first instance on this cultivar from them (I had gotten this plant from them in the Summer of 2011.

I don't know if our Zingerado is still there so I will offer
John's MDB 'Rosa Brooks' as an early flowering iris.

Greg - have any later blooms had a fault like that? Just wonder if the rhizome carried that trait to it's offspring.

Nope. The Spoons said this sort of thing happens every now and then. This cultivar is not any more likely than any other.

I was thinking along the lines of a single rhizome having a mutation that would carry. Glad it is just a chimera sort of thing.

Is this zee end? Can't we add a few more entries? Mary Ann, any hints for tomorrow? I will start a thread tomorrow too, about one of my "got to get them all" hybridizes!
