Jennifer is 100% right. I bought my first tubers long before the internet was popular and they did survive.

I guess I provided TMI. I agree with Arlene and she has been using her method for some years very successfully. Dahlias are so gorgeous, bountiful in their blooms and varied. Very much worth any effort. But of course, always KISS -- keep it simple. Usually the best way.

And indeed welcome. We are a positive happy bunch and always like new fellow gardeners. Hurray! Hurray!

No such thing as TMI, Mary. Someone always benefits from the information we share.

If there was only one "perfect" way to store dahlias, it would be on every site. Each of us probably stores them differently. I'm happy if I have 75 or 80% of them survive and last year I lost half of them because the winter was too cold and though I had them on top of a carpet and covered with tarps, it ended up being disaster...but let me buy new ones.

Thanks for the "Welcomes" Everyone!

Mary Stella- Definitely not too much information. I'm only starting out with 3 dahlia's this year for exactly the reason you suggest, to keep it simple. Thanks!

Taking it slow is very wise. Which ones did you buy?
