Winter in the North

By 4susiesjoy

I've always had a chuckle when I've seen articles in garden magazines that talk about planting for winter interest. Here in zone 3, everything usually has frozen before the middle of October and is covered with snow shortly afterward. But then I started looking around.

Great article. Snow on everything really levels the playing field to interesting shapes and textures.
Great job.

Thanks so much for the nice comments, thumbs and acorns! I tried to get a picture of the sparkles on the snow and the hoar frost when the sun hits them, but my camera wouldn't pick them up. That is when it really becomes a winter wonderland.

It was 74º here today but the front is moving through and we've been getting some good rain. Our highs for the next three days will be low to mid 50's with lows to be predicted at 35º tomorrow night, 32º Thursday night but then back up to the low to mid 70's daytime and 50's nighttime ... no snow and ice. Green Grin!

Linda, we were -23 below when I got up this morning, with temperatures not even suppose to get above zero today. Brrrrr! So your green grin is definitely appropriate and my zone envy is very pronounced today. Whistling Hilarious!

Thanks again everyone for the nice comments, thumbs, and acorns! Your appreciation of the beauty of my winter wonderland will remind me that even though I'm not to excited to go out in it today as it is so cold, it is a beautiful place to live. Smiling
