You should have no problems at all. The cuttings I use are all kinds, soft, semi hard, hard, and I have a great number of them that actually root. I keep them very wet during the process of rooting. Many times they are sitting in water. I have also started them in coconut coir and they did very well. If you do not rush them by repotting them before their roots are ready you will be just fine. I leave them get rootbound in the 3" pot before I tell my customers to transplant them. Let me know if you want to know anything else. I also put them in water after cutting them for a day or two, just to let them drink it up and get hydrated. That is just my thing. No one ever said you can do that.
